So this is more of a hypothetical question since the movie hasn't been announced for release, but on a technical inquiry: can 4K UHD technology better replicate/encode the 30fps look of Oklahoma! ? since the bluray is 2K/1080i ... also I've read that the theatrical DCP that Fox created actually had the entire soundtrack remixed in Dolby Atmos, oh this is so ripe for UHD.
actually this might be more suited to the 'Tech' sub-thread section here - a mod can move it if need be. Last edited by Dubstar; 02-15-2017 at 06:08 AM. |

Well, technically the 30fps version is just fine on the 1080i60 Blu because it's been encoded in the PsF stylee of cleanly splitting each frame across two fields, so any competent BD player should be able to reconstruct the 30p progressive signal and output it as frame-doubled 1080p60.
Anyhoo, 30p is not part of the UHD Blu spec re: frame rates. If they wanted to include that version on any far away UHD version then they'd need to frame double it to 60p. |

Oddly enough the Blu-ray of this arrived today, I ordered it a couple weeks back after catching some of it on TV over Christmas. |
