USA Outlaw Star The Complete Series

Looked around and couldn't find any proper threads on this, but Funimation looks to be releasing the whole series on Blu-ray as well as in a collector's set. Been waiting for this one for a while now.

Release date for both is June 13, 2017.

No doubt, but I'm not region free nor do I plan to be anytime soon. So therefore, I gotta go with this release.

I already have the UK edition. I would double dip but I am not a fan.of the artwork. Now if they made it shaped like a spaceship or some unique shapped packaging then I would consider it.
This is good for everyone who isnt region free at least

Yea really not a fan of the artwork either. So many better choices out there. But yea, happy to finally get it released here.

Finally, great news! Will probably grab the special edition. Only $75 on Funimation.

I'm going to wait to see what glitches the series has first.

It's sad we have come to a time where we expect problems with every release.

I know, but after the horrid Code Geass and Escaflowne releases, I just can't buy any Funimation product right now without worry.

For me neither of those sets had any issues for me.

I didn't do the kickstarter for Escaflowne so I had no problems with that one. Code Geass and Sword of the Stranger were the last two that screwed me. I guess I'm taking a risk, but I did preorder Outlaw Star.

If I weren't so deathly terrified of a negative Zavvi experience (Jiffy bag mailers for box sets are the things nightmares are made of!), I'd get the UK set in a heartbeat.

So you'll accept noticably inferior video quality because you're afraid the box MIGHT get damaged? I don't understand your reasoning at all.

The last time I ordered from Zavvi, it took 3 replacements before I got a near mint box set about the size of the OS box. To be fair, this was a little under a year ago but I still hear horror stories of similar instances. That equated to a little under 3.5 months of aggravation. It was a terrible experience and I'm not ready to endure that again. I feel much safer buying direct (because they actually tend to care) but if I do that, it's quite a bit more than the Funi set will cost.

Zavvi's shipping is definitely there weak point. The way they shipped my order of Outlaw Star and Berserk was unacceptable, a flimsy little piece of cardboard wrapped around the items with flaps that didn't shut. My postman said when it arrived to them the items fell out, luckily he's a cool guy and held it for me.

I have ordered over 40 times from zaavi and have never had a damaged item. My experience may not represent everyone elses. I also have no problem ordering from any region. This probably comes from my ordering practices from the old days when I would send a money order to some third world shit hole and recieve a cd 4 months later. The only time I had a problem was getting ripped off for a demo from Columbia for like $12 bucks along with about 100 other people. From what I remember I never got the release, but the scammer did get the shit beat out of them. Then again, the metal genre is a little different than anime.
