Default Rumor alert! Dawn of The Dead (1978) coming from Well Go!?!?

Before I start, I originally pulled an April Fool's joke on another site Saturday. But according to a member sometime later, an insider told him that Well Go has probably acquired it! Guess the joke was on me!

http://horrordvds.com/community/thre...-go-usa.48142/

No foolin' here everybody, but do take it with a grain of salt. Incidentally, I had a feeling Well Go would get this after the success they had/are having with Phantasm.

I got the AB release, but if this is true and if it's on the level of the Ultimate edition DVD (with features and great PQ/AQ), I'd double dip in a heartbeat.

About time, the field is wide open for a great Dawn of the Dead Blu-ray, despite a baffling number of attempts.

I love the original 1978 version of Dawn of the Dead, but this is currently one of the holes in my Blu-ray collection. I'll definitely be following this thread as such.

With the Phantasm films, and now Dawn... Looks like WellGo is a label to keep an eye on!

Include the rumored 3D version, and I'm sold, as well.

And a complete 156-minute cut and I too will be sold!

THAT'S the determining factor for you?!

Well, uh, good for them I guess!! Here's hoping they get all new transfers instead of being stuck with a crummy old one like they were with P2.

The one new feature I'd like to see is that weird open matte version of the Euro cut. I'm sure they wouldn't have it, but it would be cool! No way am I buying the massive Italian set just for it.

I'd be happy with an unmolested US theatrical cut with the original audio. That's all I really want.

Yes, because I already have all three cuts. Not on Blu, but -- I have them. Include something new, and I'll be on this like white on rice.

For those of you who have no use for the 3D version, please don't belittle those of us who have been wanting it on home video for years now. Everyone has their preferences. I want them to get this totally right. We all want the best possible scans, and the open matte version would be great.

But I will say that 3D Blu Ray is probably the last opportunity for 3D fans to own Dawn in 3D on home video. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it exists, and to not utilize a rerelease as an opportunity to make it available would be a sad missed opportunity.

I thought Well Go acquiring the Phantasm franchise was way beyond odd but, lo and behold, judging by what we know so far, they seem to have hit the ball out of the park by putting together a fantastic-looking set. If they really have Dawn of the Dead I expect another top-notch release but not holding my breath for a set anytime soon.

Yeah, nobody predicted that Well Go would get Phantasm.

Due to Well Go being able to get product into the B&M stores like Best Buy and Walmart, and the fact that lots of money was spent (wasted IMO) on a 3D conversion of DOTD, this partnership does make sense.

And bad encoding with it if true (in this case hoping its still an April Fool) and most probably squeezed onto a bd25. If anyone gets it hoping Arrow or at worst Scream who at least will give it a high bitrate.
