Default About to get married and need some advice

Hey guys.

I was active on this forum way back in 2014 as a student in Canada. Couldn't afford to buy movie discs and I wanted to create a nice collection of blurays because even back then I knew this is the final step in real discs and everything will be digital from now on.

Now I am also a budding filmmaker and I seek films with extra content like DVD commentaries so I intend to buy those first. The movies I picked way back then are still in my cart. But I have lost touch with the technology in itself so I would need some advice. Getting married I am getting a decent amount of cash to buy a decent Bluray system not just for entertainment but also to learn.

1.) What's the best system to play bluray? I am also a hardcore gamer and own a PS4 Slim but I might buy a Pro. Will the Pro play every bluray discs(even those released in early 2010s)? Because most of my collection like the Alien quadrology are that old.

2.) Are the movies region coded? Games aren't.

Any other advice.

Thanks

1. The PS4 should play everything you can throw at it. If you can afford it, an Oppo player is about the best you can do.

2. Movies are region coded. The Oppo as well as some other players can be modified to play discs from other regions though.
