Supports my argument about how film and tv is going to be destroyed by mobile. You guys are in denial, this is just the start. Next, condensed films. |

Not sure this is a for-sure thing happening. Looks like it was just an idea put forth by the guy.
Seems silly to tailor to mobile as if the people who have mobile don't also have a TV stream or a way to cast their mobile stream onto a TV screen. |

It's an example of the (IMO) eventual downfall of entertainment. The guy is a prominent figure. If he wants to push it, he can.

It's ideas like this that will destroy entertainment. Pretty soon films will be treated the same way. They just want extra ad revenue. So expect ads as well.

Sigh. An article about the idea of something like this happening and you act like the sky is falling. Who cares how movies are distributed. |

They already did this a long time ago:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Minisode_Network The original full length episodes and movies will still be there. It's just for people that don't have time and don't care about watching the whole feature. |

Click bait of not, this is the guy that eventually will be in charge of HBO. Westeorld, GOT, it's the idea behind it. Entertainment on mobile would basically be extended recap videos. You can bet he wants to do that to film also. 40 minute cuts of two hour films. This is what happens (IMO) when suits run things. We are heading towards the most depressing future possible if this is allowed.

If you have a MLB Premium account you have the option to watch a condensed game. Sounds like it is somewhat the same idea? I have never watched a condensed game, but I can see how it would be appealing to fans who are not able to spend 2-3 hours watching.

It's different for drama. It will affect the flow of the show. It's a stupid stupid idea. If people are that desperate to only watch in ten minute chunks or whatnot, why not just use the pause option? It worries me that this could filter through to mainstream. There's seems to be a divide where the industry thinks anyone ounder 40 doesn't want long form content on their mobile. As some only watch content on their smartphones, surely that becomes a learned behaviour? Like someone else mentioned, where does that leave Chromecast or airplay for example. Are condensed films and tv shows then the future for all of us?

My post was condensed. You mean you couldn't get the entire story from it?
I don't like the idea. I will say though....that I have heard people say that they have simply read the wiki page of a show to catch up to the current season. Not watching any of the previous episodes, only reading the wiki and picking up where the current episode is. ![]() |
