Default Region A (B,C untested) - what does this mean?

Does it mean that the disc supports the other two Regional Codings, but they haven't been tested?

It means that the release has been tested and is supported for the region(s) not in parentheses, in this example "A", but not tested for the the one(s) in parentheses, in this case "B" and "C", and so either/both might or might not be supported.

Thanks for that, I am ensconced in Region B and would like to purchase discs with this 'region coding' information. I find it confusing because you also have 'region free' and 'region A (locked)', so when you see '(B, C untested)' it gives the impression that the coding exists on the disc but wasn't tested (in which case, I guess it would be 'region free').

Don't assume a (B C untested) notation means it's region-free. It might not be. It just means we don't know if it'll actually work in B and C.

There are certain studios that follow patterns, for instance Disney has released discs that are region free for the most part the last few years, with a few noted exceptions like Ratatouille. You'll usually find members who post in these manufacturers threads from different regions who have the scoop.

Beware though, some studios that have been region free have released the odd locked title; for instance Fox has been region free but for some reason released Logan as a region A locked title. Again, check the threads for a particular title, some members know before the database gets updated.

The reason it says B C untested etc is because users can update the database themselves. As it stands all releases in Region A will be listed as A (B C untested) until someone confirms it works in Regions B and C.

If it works in Region B player and a member updates the database then it would change to Region A, B (C untested). If it works in Region C player it would say Region A, C (B Untested) if it works in all 3 then it will say Region Free.
