Default Elder Scrolls: Skyrim PS VR

Now that the game has been announced and apparently comes complete with expansion packs, who is buying this and more to the point, who is buying the VR headset to play this game.

This was all I could ever hope for... I just hope the movement is free reign and not teleportation.

It should boost sales for sure. Nice meaty game to get stuck into. I am also hoping for some new tables for the pinball game. I was half expecting Matvel to announce a few tables but nothing so far.

I didn't get the third expansion for ES Skyrim but I hear it was easily the best of the three.

Skyrim VR trailer:

Controller layout: Fallout VR (yet to be announced for PSVR...)

This guy says the whole game is explorable. I hope we can use the dual shock for this.
Okay, the guys said you can totally use your dual shock instead. Cool.

If any game would get me into VR with stereo 3D, Fallout VR would be the one, then Skyrim VR. These are the fully open world games I want to experience in VR stereo 3D. While it would be great if they were entirely new games, I am intrigued by these titles and very happy Bethesda supports VR. Now they just need to get Fallout VR on PSVR asap!!!

Doom VR could be cool too.

It will be a huge commitment. I think this is the testbed for a brand new open world game. If this sells well and sells a few headsets we may get our wish.

Not sure why some poeple are complaining about the graphics on the VR version. They look as good or better than the videos I think. Better in my oppinion. The videos don't portray at all how awesome the game looks in VR.

I was thinking about the move controller issue. And had a thought. If a person can walk okay with them but the turning is slow. Maybe I can try more fully utilizing the advantage of my swivel chair to help with that. Because obviously you can actually physically turn in the game too. I don't know though, might be too much work. And there might be too much tracking problems if facing away from the camera too much. But it's definitely worth experimenting with. Would be cool if it could be made to work though.

If it worked okay I'd have to get a hook on the ceiling to run the cord straight up so that I can completely spin around without getting all tangled. Would be nice doing that anyways so the cord is not always hanging there in my lap.

We need a multi camera set up so the camera can easily detect the player and controllers no matter what direction a person is facing. I think the Vive is like that if I understand right.

I was never into Elder Scrolls but will buy this just for the fact it's a PS VR title.

The VR version of Skyrim will be a real litmus test of how current VR can hold up in such a giant world full of what Skyrim offers. It'll show all the weaknesses of the current hardware and where changes need to be made Imo.

The amount of enemies on screen at once in some missions might even be the Achilles as well as draw distances being a little poor etc. All things that will expose what VR 2.0 on consoles needs to bring.

Agreed. Personally, I know I can handle a full game with rapid movement for several hours so bring it on!

When I tried the VR experience Samsung offered on the S8 phone, it had lots of fast motion and rocking on the 4DX and I didn't feel sick once so I'm pretty confident I'm the type of person that could handle hours upon hours of VR without inducing motion sickness. That's why I am excited for the future of VR but also not wanting to jump in until the tech gets better or cheap enough to "Have a go" kind of like I did with PlayStations' Eye.

VR 2.0 needs to be aiming for 4K HDR and also solid FPS reproduction of at least the 60fps equivalent on TVs and be buttery smooth in motion and work 360 degrees for all game experiences.

I just personally can't justify the cost of VR as an early adopter to be frank. I'd rather start putting money aside for a 4K HDR OLED down the line that exceeds 2k nits or so on brightness and has low input lag to eventually replace my current TV. Was hoping to upgrade for PS5 release tbh and still waiting for prices to tumble down more but credit to LG, they're blazing trails and give me hope.

You may be waiting quite a long while for 4K HDR VR, the tech for PS4 isn't there yet.

Tbh, I'm not expecting 4K HDR in VR on PS4. It's practically impossible. I'm hoping for it during the PS5/PS5 Pro (If they do it) generation. VR 2.0 needs to introduce HDR at the very least but 4k is almost a necessity too Imo to push sharper graphics and make things feel more realistic.

I've never played Skyrim and I'm very keen on PSVR... I imagine the audio (if it's binaural/3D sound) would add another amazing layer to this kind of game.

I'm looking at August or September to pick one, all being well...

Yes the audio works very well. Please note you need to connect a pair of stereo headphones to the connector coming from the actual VR headset (attached to the cable that comes out of the headset. If you don't you won't get the 3D sound.

I would recommend batman, Resident Evil, FX pinball and Statik. All excellent. If you play Resident Evil with headphones you will need nerves of steel!
