In the course of two months I get to see Princess Bride, E.T., Close Encounters, and Lion King all back in theaters. I hope they continue this trend.

I don't know if audiences today can handle a comedy like this. There's no profanity, nudity or cheap thrills for shock value. There's no screaming, yelling or overreacting to get people's attention. It's also witty, well written and has solid on screen performances. It pretty much goes against everything the comedy genre has embraced for the last 10 years. I mean, there's no poo poo or pee pee jokes to be found anywhere in this film. How can it possibly succeed?

What you just described is the main reason I avoid most comedy films made nowadays; there's nothing funny about them beyond immediate shock.

Yeah, there have been no good comedies in the last decade.

Maybe a remake geared towards modern teens is in order.

I've got tickets for Casablanca and The Princess Bride, but I haven't seen tickets for Close Encounters yet. I know it's coming in September so I'm on the lookout.

If you don't mind spending 30 bucks, it's available on VUDU UHD with Dolby Vision. Looks really good too. Better than the Blu-ray.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

A fantasy that didn't try too hard to be. And it worked nicely.

I've seen The Princess Bride before. But for some odd reason, I don't remember a single thing about the film.

Haven't watched it in a while but this was one of those "oh we have a sub today, let's throw on a movie" movies we used to watch all the time in grade school. The others being Jurassic Park and Mulan. I don't know why it was those three, but I'm not complaining. I enjoy all three quite a bit.

Just rewatched it last week for the first time in probably 10 years (?). Loved it!
