It's the FragFX, right? I've not personally seen one, but it's just a different form factor for a standard controller.
Personally, I use a nice USB mouse and keyboard, and that works much better for me than a half-measure like that, but to each their own. |

It has very mixed reviews. IGN gave a good review, and so did a few websites, but most user reviews are bad. They say it's not really precise like a mouse, and that it seems to estimate where you're pointing. I've never used it so I don't know for sure.

Well it'd have to estimate, it's turning the right analog stick into a mouse controller. And folks don't game with trackballs, they game with mice...

I got this at day one, mainly because I really really suck at playing FPS with a console pad. It's not as playing with a mouse at all, basically you control the "left analog stick"(or right) with the mouse, so it's not that responsive (compare it to an old trackball mouse and a new laser mouse with hidh DPI)
With that said, After getting used to it, I was getting MUCH better at FPS style games like Warhawk, Resistance fall of man and COD4. Although there is a major setback, the regular cross-shaped thumb steering thingie (for lack of a better word) on the lefthand "fragchuck" doesn't have 8 directions, just 4! and that makes chosing weapons in warhawk impossible, you can only chose 4 out of 8 weapons! Other issues is the mouse buttons, they require some serious force to be pressed, but the manufacturer have released an aplication which allows you to adjust the pressure required on the mousebuttons, which works perfect. All in all, it works great for some games, (R:FoM for example, and you completely OWNS the skies if you're in a turret in Warkawk) but seriousely gimps you in others. (you can't fly for s**t in warhawk with it, and choosing only 4 out of 8 weapon slots.) I'd stay away from it if I were you, atleast until all the issues are fixed and there is a cordless model. I've heard UT3 is the first game that allows regular USB/BT keyboards/mice, if that's the future, that's way better. anywho, just my thoughts. Last edited by ordeith; 01-03-2008 at 10:11 PM. |
