So basically what 3D release from 2017 took you by complete surprise in terms of the 3D quality?
My vote is for King Arthur Legend of the Sword. For a movie that the studio had apparently written off before it was even released, I was blown away by the strength and quality of the 3D conversion. Strong 3D layers, loads of great depth, pop outs, 3D particles, it's got the lot (apart from black bar breaking) and is a real knockout in 3D. It could so easily have been a phoned in 3D conversion, especially as the flop status was on the cards before release. |

Of the 3D's I purchased that were released this year, I'd have to say that Doctor Strange was the most surprising, as it's one of the best 3D's I have -- excellent story, terrific 3D.
Other 2017 releases I bought: Transformers: The Last Knight 3D, Wonder Woman 3D, and Ghost in the Shell 3D. I enjoy them all. Transformers and Ghost are worthy 3D's 5/5. Wonder Woman, was less so, 3.5/5. |

Come to think of it September Storm would win biggest surprise of the year personally. I forgot it was released this year. Best cinemascope 3D yet.

I'd have probably gone with September Storm as well - that had phenomenal 3-D - but I think I was more surprised by this title:
![]() Talk about being given a new jolt of life! I'd only ever heard it mentioned as some obscure musical from 3-D's Golden Age, but it's now one of my favourites from that era. The 3-D is vivid and imaginative and indispensable. The Chick-a-Boom song and dance number is one of the most fascinating 3-D sequences I've seen in that it really showcases the possibilities of stereo choreography. |

"Surprise" will be the key-word here.
There are a number of spectacular 3D scenes becoming excellent surprises in 3D for 2017! But in all honestly I cannot put Golden-Age titles in the surprise category because they already have my greatest admiration-in-expectation as native-3D 50s classics. I would pick "Doctor Strange" for giving me my biggest 3D surprise of the year. |

Best conversion hands down for me is still DOCTOR STRANGE. Best olden age release is THOSE REDHEADS FROM SEATTLE. IMO.
