Disney Solo: A Star Wars Story 3D Blu-ray (2018) [Region Free]

Solo: A Star Wars Story has been released on REGION FREE 3D Blu-ray worldwide except in America, where it was only released flat. If I was American I'd be real mad with Disney about that. Again, please note that any release you buy from anywhere in the world will be REGION FREE so please ignore any shopping sites that say otherwise.

You can pre-order the standard 3D+2D combo from Amazon UK while Zavvi have the steelbook edition. There are various international releases too, some of which (like the Indian version) include the 4K version for those of you who like to watch your 3D movies flat.

Original post: First trailer

Actually it is a teaser of the teaser. The official 1st (Teaser) trailer will be out tomorrow. But yeah, that does look pretty cool!

I'm just not buying this kid as Han Solo. otherwise it looks fine, but that's going to be the deal breaker.

Does everyone think this will come out in 3D though? I hope so.... I have all of the other "new" SW films in 3D and want to keep that ball rolling. Harder to believe it though, they seem to be NOT doing as much 3D lately. Bleh.

If it does I wouldn't expect the 3D conversion to be up to much considering how crunched the post production schedule is.

Happy Star Wars Day.

Tickets went on sale this morning. I got mine for Thursday the 24th (preview night showing) in 3D at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood.

May the 4th Be With You!

I agree. I have very little interest . IT was Ford that made the character so popular. From what I have seen, the new actor doesn't have his charm and will never be the nerf herder Harrison was.

To me, the new guy (don't know his name, don't care) looks like a young Dennis Quaid, but nothing like a young Harrison Ford. His voice is too high, and the whole thing reeks of Millennium Falcon 90210.

But it doesn't matter. I'll get the 3D blu for completion's sake, but I have zero desire to see this in the theaters. Even with free tickets on Cheerios. (How will they score that: If it's sold out, but half the tickets were free, that can't count to box office, can it?)

Ugh. I hate the very idea of this film.

/Rant over.

EDIT: Now a straight up Lando movie with Donald Glover -- Day 1.

Thanks for the info with Cheerios. Cheerios helps pay for the tickets as part of a promotion I believe, much like those movie tickets on Blu-Rays of related movies from the past, like with X-Men, Spider-Man, etc. It will sell more Cheerios, so they gain a lot of promotion from it.

But yeah, hopefully Solo 3D will be available for pre-order soon on any overseas site. At this point, I have doubts about a pre-order from Disney/Lucasfilm for blu ray 3D in the US.

As far as the movie, I'll go in with low expectations and just hope to be entertained as with any Star Wars movie.

So I watched this last night, 3D is very mild and no pop outs at all. There’s some nice depth here and there
[Show spoiler](specially inside the falcon)
. I thought in a lot of scenes it was way too dark and it was kinda hard to notice any detail in 3D. Watched in RealD 3D.

Saw the movie last night and unfortunately in 2D (special screening). The 2D version was also quite (too) dark in couple of scenes. Really missed the 3D effect few times and I was thinking how good they could look.

Going to see this on Saturday in IMAX 3D, I'll post my thoughts about that version later.

About the movie: The start was very terrible, but it then becomes so much better. Actually liked the third act very much! Found few small easter eggs, probably missed most of them as seeing new Star Wars film for the first time is always a nostalgia riot for me. Nice use of original trilogy soundtrack!

IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE DON'T READ THIS SPOILER!
[Show spoiler]
The huge surprise in the end (well, not telling the character who appears, as maybe you opened this spoiler alert even that you haven't seen the movie! ) really took me off guard. I always thought this movie would happen between the events of Episodes III and IV, but how wrong was I! Or was I??! If one hasn't seen Clone Wars or Rebels one doesn't understand how this surprise character is in this movie...

I've got a 5-pound credit for the Jumanji shipping debacle at Amazon, so I'll be waiting for it to appear for ordering availability here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Solo-Star-S...7133298&sr=1-1
