![]() ![]() A behind the scenes look with the cast and crew of “The Kid,” directed by Vincent D’Onofrio and filmed in Santa Fe, NM. “The Kid” tells the story of a young boy who witnesses Billy the Kid’s encounter with Sheriff Pat Garrett and stars Ethan Hawke, Dane DeHaan, Jake Schur, Leila George, Vincent D’Onofrio and Chris Pratt(who replaced James Franco). * Don't know if there is a thread already, bit surprised nothing showed up using the search function. |

I am not a fan of Dane DeHaan at ALL, but I actually think he is a very good fit for Billy The Kid.
Just the opposite - I like Chris Pratt, but if anyone seems really miscast I think it's him. With Hawke and Pratt and the western town setting and all, this feels like D'onofrio just grab some castmates on the set of Magnificent Seven and filmed it there on all the same sets and everything. lol |

I agree that Pratt looks even more out of place... but DeHaan is 33 playing a real person that died at 21. Unqestionably miscast.

this looks very good, especially the direction, seems rather fresh, i knew d'onofrio would have an eye for cinematic aesthetics.

I just saw this. Not bad. I enjoyed it. Although I have not been a fan of his work, DeHann actually does a pretty decent job as Billy the Kid. Pratt is barely recognizable and that helps him pull off his part in the film. Hawke gives another solid performance. D'Onofrio's direction works.
It does seem like a family affair production. D'Onofrio, Hawke, and Pratt were in The Magnificent Seven together. Leila George is D'Onofrio's daughter. Jake Shur is the son of Jordan Shur whose company produced the film. This doesn't hurt the film as the entire cast is pretty good, including Shur in a primary role and what looks to be his first film role ever. |
