Question LG 2017 4K tv. PLEASE HELP:/

My sister bought a LG tv this past Xmas. It turns out that I will be buying a 2017 model as well before they’re out of stock. I know I helped her get an IPS panel instead of the VA type. I can’t find the message I emailed or text was deleted but can someone help me find a link to ensure I get an IPS panel and not a VA type. I can’t thank you enough and since I can control it, I want the in plane switching updated type and not the old vertical alignment build.

A link would be great. I tried to Google but for some reason came up empty. Thank you 🙏🏻 guys and gals for your help in allowing me to get the tv I want.

You mentioned no model number for helping you so were you trying to say this model came with either? Thats why I mentioned rtings, as they mention details like that.

That model has an IPS panel. LG generally only use IPS or OLED panels. The replacement is IPS as well.

you're extremely fortunate :: that's a significant upgrade

perhaps you should comment on the picture quality improvements?

I’m going to try out these settings I found

Optimized Picture Settings

PICTURE SETTINGS
Picture Mode: Expert (Dark Room)
Contrast: 98
Brightness: 51
Gamma: BT.1886
Color: 51
Tint: R7
Sharpness: H: 0, V: 0
Color Temperature: Warm2
Backlight: 60
Color Gamut: Auto
Black Level: Low
Real Cinema: On
LED Local Dimming: High
TruMotion: User (De-Blur: 10)

All other settings should be set to "off" or zero "0". Any individual R,G, or B color subcontrols, if present, should remain at their default settings.

In day i may just use vivid unless i find daytime settings that work well.

so :: what do you think of the picture quality?
how does it compare to your previous display?
note :: from my experience, it seems quite close to an OLED (just an observation)

It's probably worth getting the calibration downloads from AVForums for contrast and brightness, as they're going to be room specific (along with the backlight), unless you're in a zero light environment. I'd switch over to ISF Day for the daytime and calibrate the brightness and contrast. 100 seems a bit high for contrast, but it depends on if you want to see anything above 235. It can give off a reddish tint if set too high on certain displays.

The AVForum tools (switch on the LG's colour filter to run the tests with the video) will have a tint test as well, it's unusual to go so far with today's displays, R1 or G1 would probably be enough if needed at all.

My backlight is 47 and local dimming is off on my set. Same model, BTW.

I never use vivid at all. I feel like I need sunglasses. LOL

I need some help. I just got the TV but my old stand for my 65UB9500 will not work because this new TV is so thin. My old stand for my 65UB9500 was this stand:

https://www.amazon.com/TransDeco-Uni...i_sh_in_o0_img

I can't walll mount it because LG only offers a flat wall mount because the TV is so thin and would need to extend about 40'' for clearance. I would like one with an extendable articulating arm but don't think there are any that will fit Any suggestions for stands or extendable mounting that will work with this TV?

This is the mount I have for my LG in the bedroom

https://kantomounts.com/product/pdx650/

It does come with smaller/shorter screws so it should work with a thinner TV

What/where do you put your devices on and do you run your cables in the wall, then down to components? Finally, what size hole do you need to make so the cables can fit through- I'd imagine the fat end of an HDMI cable is fairly large, plus having the width of possibly more than one fitting through sane hole. That's assuming you have no A/V receiver in bedroom. I'm just guessing most people don't have a surround set up in bedroom. Thanks for the help/advice. I really appreciate it cuz Idk what I was going to do.

What I do is merely a suggestion, cause really I could care less about aesthetics, my time is limited, so whatever effort I do has to be fast and secure.

So, that said. TV is on the mount, my dresser is right below it. On top of the dresser is my BD player. Behind BD player is a Vizio soundbar, speakers are in back of the BR with the SW. PS4-Pro is on top of BD player. A Roku box is on top of the PS. Most of my cables are in a "reversible velcro-tube" I got cheap off of Amazon. White is showing cause the walls and blinds are white but the reverse is black.
Only holes I have are for the main mounting holes, which there are 4, and all are into studs (requirement). I like this mount because you can remove the TV & rear mount and adjust it easily while leaving the main mount alone. Only 3 HDMI cables go to TV (from: PS/BD/Roku) and they are all in this tube. The power cable, on extreme left of TV is too far and is the only visible cable other than the tube.

link for tube, if you want to buy one, is here:

We used these when we mounted our TV. There was a template included so we could make the hole to fit the plate. We bought it at Home Depot. I think Lowes has these, too.

I only have certain spots I can put it & with the only wall mount I've found that'll work with it being the official large flat mount with 6 inch extension, Idk what to do. I can't put it above the fireplace because 1) I don't want to drill permanent holes into nice stone, postulate that any heat will fry the monitor or minor smoke that escapes the chimney and flows up will damage the boards/screen. I'd have loved to put an extendable wall mount on the wall where the current TV is - either side- but 1) Idk where studs are, how many you need to drill into to secure it, but most of my options are limited because this TV is nearly as thin as an OLED and Ive found only 1 wall mount that'll fit it ( the official one) and it has a large wall plate and only extends 12'' from plate. Anyone know of a wall mount with small plate that attaches to wall with an arm that allows extension and articulation of the TV that'll work?

The stand I have now puts the TV about 4 feet high- or maybe a little less. It's the one I posted link to earlier-Transdesco. I like the shelves on it as well, compared to other stands. Any advice on mounts, stands, and/or my options would be well appreciated.
