If he supervised the latest DV master, what else is there for him to do with it? I don't think he needs to pass on the disc layout, packaging, or other non important details. I wonder why he's holding it back.

He did the same thing with The Abyss, approved a master then it was never released. So Fox has to wait for his approval again.

He approved the master but he also has final approval on the home video presentation so he decides what extras are on disc and how it looks and sounds on home video.

Very interesting! It's nice to know he takes his perfectionism from pre-production all the way to home media. I don't even have 4K yet, but I promised myself this will be the movie that makes me upgrade. Same for Atmos. I wonder if he'll end up getting in touch with Gary Rydstrom for the audio side of things with a new home theater mix.

the Dolby Vision theatrical release last December was STUNning !! with Paramount completely on board with encoding DV on UHD, I'm guess it's just a waiting game til an actual announcement for street date details and all.

With Cameron in the middle of filming Avatar 2-5 back-to-back-to-back-to-back, it's probably going to be a few years before we see any of the aforementioned Cameron movies in UHD any time soon. I'm honestly a little shocked T2 is already out there but I guess he squeezed that out before diving into Avatar again.

I'm probably day one for Titanic UHD so long as it's done right.

If anyone is wondering, it wasn't given an Atmos mix for the Dolby Cinema release. I believe either Cameron is like Nolan and doesn't like Atmos from a technical standpoint (I think Titanic and Dunkirk are the only theatrical Dolby Vision titles not to have Atmos mixes), or if he is willing to tinker with the visuals, he is more of a purist with the original sound mixes (saw both Titanic and T2 last year on Atmos screens using the still good 5.1 mixes).

I'm not sure, as the 2005 release offered DD EX and DTS ES mixes.

Have you ever seen a Chris Nolan film? As for this release, I wouldn't expect this for a long time. Cameron is too busy with avatar world and trying to convince people 3D cinema is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Yes, I have. I'm not knocking every movie for going crazy with CGI. It's just that practical effects, sets, and even actors are being built in the computer now.

A movie like this is a given on the format. I personally don't think we'll have to wait too long for this. It has always sold very well on the home media side.

I'd rather see these two TITANIC films on UHD, I'll buy them too if 4K remastered, compared to one of James Cameron's worst movies.

If Cameron is such a perfectionist (with Home Media), how did he allow the "Titanic 10th Anniversary Edition" DVD to be released?
They only changed the cover and kept everything the 2005 "Special Edition" had. I'm fine with it, since I would buy everything related to Titanic. However, I don't understand why it was so hard for them to release a 20th Anniversary Edition
They could have just included the Blu-ray's bonus features (and perhaps the new National Geographic documentary) and change the artwork a bit.
