Default Best PS3 settings for a 4k tv?

I just bought a TCL p605 4k tv and am loving it I'm still using my old PS3 for dvd's, Blu Ray's and occasionally games and am trying to get the most use out of it. What is going to be my best bet for the video/display settings? I found this Cnet article but it's almost 10 years old. I've also seen various things online that say to leave the Upscale to off instead of normal. I would really appreciate any help.

welcome to the forum. i have the same tv in my bedroom and i love it too. there is a "game mode" setting that can be enabled, give that a try. anything you do, you can simply go back and undo or change back just pay attention to what it was as it's menu and selection driven.

i don't play games on mine, but, i'm sure people do. hopefully someone will be around to help you out. you probably should have posted this in the gaming forum under ps3 consoles or something since your asking about settings for this for playing ps3 games. also, posting it in a forum for 4K tv's (this one specifically) would also be a great help.

best of luck.

Hi and thanks for the warm welcome. This is probably the best all around movie/gaming/tv/audio forum!

I actually used
youtube guide from Rtings to set up my TV. I was going to ask later on about tweaking and collaborating my Tv colors. I'll ask this same question in the other sections, just didn't want to spam.

Generally you want to select Movie mode for the most accurate out-of-the-box results, then make sure all your post processing options are turn off, so no dynamic contrast, edge enhancement and so on. Turn off local dimming as well.

When you're playing games you can switch on Game Mode for less input lag. Some people leave it on for movies and other video content, but you'll have to decide for yourself.

The PS3 has a decent upscaler, but bear in mind that you lose a bit of picture information with all 4:3 DVDs regardless. But you can experiment whether your TV or PS3 produces better results with scaling. Everything (whether it's 480, 720 or 1080p) will be upscaled anyway as your display is UHD.

It's worth downloading one of the calibration tools from AVForums to adjust your brightness and contrast settings.
