Default Help please with upgrade choices!

Hey guys,

My current setup is:
Denon AVR-S710W
Sony SS-CN5000 center
Sony SS-F5000 front surrounds
Sony SA-W2500 sub
Sony SS-B1000 rears.
Polk RC80i ceiling mounted for atmos.

I want to upgrade the front Sony's. However on a pretty tight budget. What would you recommend as a quality upgrade for the towers. Hoping to keep $350-400 for the pair. I have seen some Polk's, Pioneers, and a Sony core set around the price range. Any input and advice would be greatly appreciated. Goal is to keep the Sub and the rears for now.

Unless your existing speakers are flawed in some significant way, I would not upgrade while under tight budget constraints. I would save for awhile longer until I could afford a wider range of options; $350 is not a lot of money to work with.

If you must upgrade I would get some polks such as monitors or TSi line, but you're going to have to replace the Center speaker too

Sorry should have clarified, I know I will have to get new center as well. That's just how much I can afford on tower portion. I was looking at the monitor 70's.

I don't "have" to upgrade. I just have upgradeitis since I just got new oled. I have never been blown away by the Sony towers. Just wondering what other good alternatives there are at budget pricing.

Congratulations on your new OLED. I would still recommend waiting until you could comfortably afford to spend more. It is not uncommon for people to put a lot of money into their display, but then skimp on the audio side of things. For me, the audio is just as important and a nice new OLED should be accompanied by equally awesome speakers.

I think good speakers are worth the investment. They last for a very long time and they do not need to be upgraded nearly as often as other home theater components.

Thanks. Someone locally is selling a pair of Infinity Primus P362 for $195 and the infinity C250 center for $75.00. Advice on those?

Just audition them and see what you think of how they sound. I have a 25 year-old pair of Infinity speakers that I use as rear speakers that still sound great. They have proven to be quite durable.

I'd look for some good deals on used gear. usaudiomart is pretty good, I've done a couple of transactions there.
Local craigslist - but be cautious and look out for scams.
