This will be the first weekend where Black Panther is no longer #1.

Paul, Apostle of Christ is this Spring's The Young Messiah. I Can Only Imagine breaking out big time kills this one. That movie will expand and should hold really, really well. I'm expecting a leggy run. Won't be much audience left for Paul.

Sherlock has fairly funny trailers and there hasn't been an animated film in quite some time. This is opening at the right time just like the first did.

A lot of bombs coming this weekend.

PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING - 20.18 MILLION
SHERLOCK GNOMES - 20.088 MILLION
MIDNIGHT SUN - 4.072 MILLION
PAUL, APOSTLE OF CHRIST - 3.825 MILLION
UNSANE - 3 MILLION
ISLE OF DOGS - 1.215 MILLION
($50,000 theater average)

I'm actually very surprised that Unsane is opening wide (which, according to BOM, it is) in the first place. It just doesn't seem like that sort of film to me.

And this is going to make me sound like a total jerk, but I think it looks too smart for a wide, general audience. Also, for as good as Claire Foy is, she just isn't much of a draw from what I can tell.

I'm so glad it is though. Looks great. Hopefully reviews will help it out a bit. But yeah it's not going to do well sadly.

Agree on both points. I think it looks excellent, and I like these off-kilter films that Soderbergh puts out every once in a while. I like his mainstream stuff too, but I really appreciate the fact that you don't really know where he's gonna go next.

And yeah, it won't do well.

If Pacific Rim makes only $20 million...Black Panther will have a chance to beat it.
