Default Leapfrogging blu ray

With 4K rolling out, I've actually held off on purchasing a number of movies that I probably would've bought on blu ray but now hope that these titles will be released on 4K.

Some of it is stuff I never bought at all, some of it is stuff I would've upgraded from standard def DVD, but now I'm just planning to leapfrog blu ray and go right to 4K.

Stuff I own on DVD but never got around to upgrading:

'Ben Hur' (Heston)
'Scarface' (Pacino)
'Breakfast at Tiffancy's'
'Enter the Dragon'

Stuff I never bought at all:

'Kill Bill' - I kept thinking the WBA cut release was just around the corner, so I never bought these movies at all. Now, I figure I might as well wait for the 4K.
'L.A. Confidential'
'Chinatown'
'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'
'Chungking Express'

But what you want now, and upgrade later as needed.

The "leapfrog Blu-ray" plan only works for new movies and major catalogue releases.

I wouldn't count on it as a general plan for collecting home video.

Here's a recent batch of discs I just got. Waiting for 4K is just not an option for most of us. Not much 4K release potential here.

For sure. I'm only getting my hopes up for 4K releases of popular hit movies (and I expect Criterion to get into the game at some point and start releasing 4K editions of some of their best sellers).

For offbeat cult movies, a blu ray release is the last physical release I expect to ever be made.
