Hong Kong The Thousand Faces of Dunjia 3D Blu-ray (2017) [Region A Locked] [Hong Kong only]

Already released on 2D Blu here in the U.S., this received a theatrical release here, too. I'm a collector of US 3D theatricals and I'm curious if anyone has seen this...

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-T...lu-ray/203173/

It streets Friday.

I pre-ordered it Monday (3D version) for about $25 US from DDDHouse.

I did the same. Tsui Hark is involved in this so I’m hoping it’s another Journey to the West 2 3D like experience.

From what I heard, Tsui Hark actually directed most part of this film, but the film is too terrible so they credit him only as the producer, many Chinese films nowadays did this...

Hi Greg,

I overpaid at $33.78 including shipping through eBay. Did surf the web for better prices and didn't think of going through individual sites like DDD. With their shipping it would have been $28.84. The five dollars hurts almost as much as just not following through further.

(somewhat on topic)

This is the same thing that is happening with 'The Monkey King 3' - a US theatrical release and already a street date for the bluray from Well Go - but nary any info on an Asian release.

I also bought mine from dddhouse, picked up SPL 2 while I was at it, as that's never getting a 3D blu-ray.

Well Go USA are leading the way in releasing 3D movies on worthless 2D-only discs, The Monkey King 3 should (I hope) get a Hong Kong release in 3D but you won't see it on 3D blu-ray anywhere else, just like the second one.

Hi 13,

If the third is just half as good as the first two I'll be surfing the web for the best price on that Hong Kong release.

If it comes out on 3D blu-ray 'll buy The Monkey King 3 from dddhouse the day the pre-order is up, no questions asked.

Mine's still in Hong Kong... I guess! Ha.Ha. Needless to say I won't order again from that seller. But no big deal. I just got through Braven 3d; very good movie.

I am getting ready to try and bear Airbender tonight. I've never watched it in 3d but it sounds like it may be the worst modern day 3d blu ray in existence!?!?

For Hong Kong discs I have always used dddhouse and never had any problems. Everything is bubble wrapped wonderfully, 100% customs-friendly and delivery is quick. I did buy one or two discs from yesasia - these got me hammered with customs charges, so I would prefer not to use them again.

As for The Last Airbender, as primitive a conversion as that is, I like it. It certainly isn't the worst 3D Blu-ray out there, I have plenty of autoconversions that are far worse. You watched Braven after all, that was an autoconversion wasn't it?

Watched my disc last night. It's the same awesome native 3D we expect from Tsui Hark. There's an overabundance of slapstick comedy and bad CGI, but the story is slightly charming. It's from the same vein as the Zu Warriors movies and is kind of like an Eastern period version of the Avengers. The art direction is well done and very creative and colorful. From a cinematography, stereography, and action choreography standpoint, it makes an entertaining visual experience.

I grabbed a couple 3-D Hong Kong movies cause they were cheap, and I was floored. (Taking of Tiger Mountain, Mermaids, Due West our Sex Journey, and Sex and Zen.) I was impressed by the 3-D spectacle more than the sex or quality of movies.

I want more. I just ordered Monkey King 2 and 3. I'll probably order Thousand Faces of Dunjia. Can someone recommend more HK, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese titles with jaw dropping 3-D to cure my fix ?

Thanks!
