Sony Pictures Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation 3D Blu-ray (2018) [Region Free]

Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation was released on 3D Blu-ray in Australia in January 2021. All other disc releases worldwide are flat (there was a 3D Blu-ray release originally scheduled in Italy but this was cancelled).

The 3D Version is also available digitally on Vudu.

Even though they are not considered the best examples of 3D I went ahead and bought the first two at a decent price off of ebay.

I like 3D animation and would love to have the opportunity to add this one to the collection as well.

Fingers crossed it doesn't end up like Ferdinand and Trolls. Why do they (the studios) even bother if they have no intention of releasing 3D versions to the home market?

I know, I know.... I'm just mumblin' to myself

I think the odds of this getting a home release are good, but remember that Sony didn't release the last Smurfs movie in 3D everywhere and they didn't release The Emoji Movie on 3D blu-ray anywhere...

Yeah I forgot about the last Smurfs film I did not see that one I . I have seen The Emoji Movie and I don't think 3D could save that film, so so bad.

Question

To 3D Or Not To 3D: Buy The Right Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation Ticket

https://www.cinemablend.com/news/244...acation-ticket

Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation entertains in every dimension of its visual splendor, so seeing it in 2D would be fine enough. But you really should spring for the extra 3D ticket pricing, as this is a fine example of the sort of experience animated 3D should embody every time out. The team that worked on this film have made this a memorable, eye-popping experience for audiences of all ages, and it deserves to be enjoyed by all who'll take it.

33/35 3D SCORE

Hmmm.... Score A little high ?

Thanks.

Unless they got a new stereographer to work on the Hotel Transylvania films, the first one has mild 3D for most of the movie except for some rare but stronger pop outs. Otherwise, disappointing 3D throughout. But I haven't seen part 2, and now 3 in theaters. Will be interested to hear a 3D forum review.

Well it got 5 of those points just by being blurry. They should have a alternating blinking eye score while they're at it...idiots.

Day one/blind buy.

Thoroughly enjoyed the first two and I'm sure this will be in the same league.

I just returned home from seeing "Hotel Transylvania 3" AND the 3D is no worse or better than the last two films. That's all I can say.

I liked the 3D in both films. Haven't seen 3 yet but it is a day one buy for me. Really fun animated features!

Thanks Dan for the report.
So it was mild 3D then.
I wish the people behind the 3D of animated films watched NWave's films, and Open Season 3D, just to see what strong 3D looks like and how much more exciting it is compared to flat 2D or mild 3D.

Thumbs down

Looks like Sony are stiffing us out of this one as well. Only worthless flat 2D releases have been listed for pre-order.

So much for the "3D World Created by Sony"...

A real shame another theatrical 3D movie does not get a 3D home release. I don't care if the 3D is mild or not (Tomb Raider). If it's 3D in cinemas, I want it in 3D (besides 4K) at home.

Not just Paramount and Sony refusing to release domestic Blu-Ray 3Ds. 20th Century Fox, Disney, Disney/Marvel, Disney/LucasFilm, Touchstone Pictures, Lionsgate, Summit Entertainment, and Sony/Marvel.

Warner Bros. never stopped releasing Blu-Ray 3Ds so we're all safe on that front. Universal finally started bothering to release movies that were theatrically released in 3D on Blu-Ray 3D again after refusing to release so many of their 3D films on Blu-Ray 3D.

Crap like this is sellable to me in 3D. Ironically in UHD it’s already hard enough to sell me on the sloppy jobs they do on my favorite titles like hunt for red October, so it’s not bloody likely I’ll buy crap like this in UHD.

I actually liked the first two films, for what they were, but I can honestly say: No 3D, no buy. This series just doesn't interest me that much.
