Just received it to. I prefer to shop from Amazon.com, Amazon UK and Amazon JP. I don't want to shop from Amazon AU. No thank-you.

Just went into this new site, typed in "Batman Blu-ray" and the only ones that came up were the local releases. None of the American or UK versions showed.

TIME TO SPREAD THE BAD NEWS TO EVERYONE THAT YOU KNOW

Remember - this isn't just about Amazon - but will impact on competition and prices on many things.

Just remember how we had it before these businesses - and still many brands don't what Australians to import via the net and thus higher local prices.

let's support our local retailers they say/..... hey I am after this movie from 1971 'yeah we don;t have that sorry but we can give you deep blue sea 2 an Australian release

the whole friggin point of amazon was to buy stuff that was not available in Australia! well I guess Piracy will go up even more now and encourage people to download stuff for free, seeing they are making it harder to buy things overseas and more expsenive

Wow, what a bad day for physical media collectors down-under . I guess NZ will get the same treatment too when our GST laws change. Absolute rubbish.

I'm just as annoyed as you all, but understand that Amazon are the ones taking the shortcut here. They had the option to do what they do in the UK - selective add VAT depending on the shipping location, but no, they decide to strip access to their stores and funnel all traffic to a crappy global site.

This news just ruined my week. Lets continue to try and make Australia a back-water place cut off from the rest of the world shall we?

Just read the news. Draconian bullsh*t. I guess we'll just to have find alternative US and international websites to buy our discs, books etc from. I wonder how this will affect pre-orders? I guess they'll just scrap them.

There's a lot of others feeling the same pain - utterly ridiculous

['This government thinks that somehow you can build prosperity with new taxes. No country ever got rich by increasing taxation. No country ever built a strong economy by clobbering itself with tax after tax after tax.']

remember that person who said that.

Doubtful, I would assume that AmazonUK and US would just stop shipping over this side, so even if you did somehow find away to access their site, they wouldn't ship to you.

that will only give you access to the website. it will not ship to your address the system will know straight away it's an Aussie address

with the PS4 store I gotta around faking out my address to a US one, now that is for digital codes only though not physical media that actually has to be shipped to you

I assume they will just refuse to ship to Australia no matter where it looks like the order is originating from?

Whats the go then? who else ships to Australia ? Or will mail forwarding services still work? ......or I buy the movies from Amazon.com & .co.uk and get them sent to my Mum in Scotland and have her send me a parcel marked as "gift" every month or two.....

This is HUGE

I buy almost all my Blu's from overseas. The backlash to this is going to be massive. Stupid f!*$ing Australian government.

Hopefully all the commotion this causes will make them backtrack on this whole pathetic Gerry Harvey idea.
