Looks like Auntie Beeb is really jumping in with both feet. I'm anticipating a 1080p master here.

Hopefully this pushes Warner to release the Sherlock Holmes movies. VUDU has them in Dolby Vision.

I feel like this title is one I can justify with "Looks good enough on blu-ray". And that is the first time so far. Well, of titles I didn't just not particularly want anyway.

But, man, oh man, I do want the Sherlock Holmes movies to come to UHD DV

Was the first series even shot on film? Given the 2009/2010 vintage, it could only be film or 1080p/2K video, and especially given the budget, I can't expect that the latter would show much improvement with an upscale.

However, if it was shot on film, then that would be a different story, assuming the BBC have re-scanned it.

Doubtful they will come soon, there is a new Sherlock Holmes movie coming from Warner in December 2020 so I doubt it comes before that movie arrives.

Just got done buying these on BD, they look great, and I can't imagine this was finished at 4K anyways.

I’m in. I love Sherlock and I’m sure the upgrade will be worth it.

I will be giving my Blu set away. The uptick to lossless audio for the first two seasons will be worth it.

Atmos would be better.

I believe most of them were shot with the Alexa.

If these have BD copies, I may get it... never got BD but not sure of UHD's future yet to be willing to get stuff ONLY in 4K.

I’m interested to see the uptick in pq as well, since the first two seasons were released in 1080i.

My research concludes that the first series was shot in 1080p. I can't warrant a 4K release in 1080p. Regular Blu-ray discs support Dolby Atmos so what's the point in a 4K release? If anyone else has any other information, i would love nothing more than to be wrong.

Higher bitrate for less compression, wide color gamut, high dynamic range.
