Five feet maybe tape a sheet to the to back of your TV and pull the other end over your head and sit down on it creating a little immersive IMAX tent for yourself

I know you're doing a 'bit' for the funnies, but make that sheet acoustically transparent so you don't mess with the atmos (IMAX) soundscape, and you got yourself one hell of a deal! I'd do it... Bring on the IMAX tent/fort.

Just don't stand up the sheet might get caught and then oops your many-thousand-dollar TV falls forward and crushes your cat

Good thing I don't have a cat. As for sitting, I would estimate that I sit about 9-10" away. I know from the entertainment center to the couch is over my height by a foot or two.

I sit about 4-5' from mine when possible. Sometimes I push it to 6" though.

Thanks. So it seems 3D you need to sit back further but 4K is closer. Im trying to find a set spot for both so I dont have to keep moving my couch lol

I've read anywhere from 5 - 8 feet. Our sectional is in the 7-8 foot neighborhood depending on where you sit.

I did some other research and it looks like 5-8 feet for 4K & 8-10 feet for 3D. Sot it would seem that 8 feet would be a good spot to watch both. Ill probably do 8 feet for 3D and 6 feet for 4K and just make a marker on the floor to move back and fourth.

I watch my 65" curved (makes it looks almost like a ~70" when close) OLED at least at 2PH (picture heights) and sometimes closer (the image keeps pulling me in).
2PH is ~5 feet for Academy and full frame widescreen.
And ~4 feet for Scope (and IMAX) movies.

Once you OLED you never go back

I'm about 12-13ft back from my 65 also and it's alright. A 75 would be better for wide screen movies but full screen is good. Also need to consider the new brightness of these tvs. Being too close to a super bright TV cannot be good for your eyes. There was an old man on AVS a few years ago that sat 3ft from his 78" Samsung. I can't remember if it was because of his eyes or if he just liked sitting close lol

I just laugh when people say u should 5ft from like a 65inch tv. Like seriously, we sat 10 feet away from a 27" when I was kid lol I remember my 1st 32" crt, it seemed monsterous at the time.

I typically sit a few inches back from the maximum distance I can shoot a load while watching Dolby Vision content.
