If the XBOX One S and XBOX One X does not get Dolby Vision HDR update for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs then this would be a big disappointment. It appears streaming gets more support these days.
quote "For now, it appears that Xbox One S & X Dolby Vision support will be limited to Netflix streaming. In order to watch Dolby Vision Netflix content through the console, users will need a Dolby Vision compatible display and a Netflix Premium subscription. It's not yet clear if Microsoft also plans to add Dolby Vision support for Xbox One S & X Ultra HD Blu-ray playback." https://www.highdefdigest.com/news/s...ox-one-x/42080 |

It looks like later this year Microsoft officially plans on adding Dolby Vision HDR support to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs.

I'm assuming the main reason why we're getting it on apps first is because of the testing required. The app makers deal with their apps (updates and testing) and publish them on Xbox so MS doesn't have to do much there. However with discs MS will have to do a lot of testing before DV is finally pushed out and that takes time. They'll probably implement it into an Insider ring first to help out with that.
