12 Monkeys took the characters and told their own story.

Get Shorty has nothing to do with the movie/novel other than the same general premise.

The Exorcist is a sequel to the movie, but you'll have to watch to see how it fits.

Bates Motel is a complete retelling with the same characters.

Animal Kingdom is a fictional version of the true-life story based on the Australian crime family that inspired a fictionalized movie.

Ash vs. Evil Dead is a continuation and Bruce Campbell's back!!!

Fargo is its own thing but set in the same universe.

Hannibal retells the plots from the novels in its own beautifully twisted way.

Friday Night Lights is its own fictional thing that has nothing to do with the movie or real-life story.

Blade is a continuation after the movies.

did The Exorcist get a proper ending? it looks interesting. I actually forgot about the show, there's no buzz online it seems

but yeah, there are a lot of shows based on movies now. Shooter is next on my list, it looks like a fun show

on top of my head, there are also
- From Dusk Till Dawn
- Limitless
- Minority Report
- Taken
- Training Day
- Lethal Weapon
- Rush Hour

And of course going back to the seventies there's Planet Of The Apes & Madigan starring Richard Widmark, & back even further to the fifties in the early days of TV where the big studios started making TV series of their hit films. I can only think of one right now, The Thin Man staring Peter Lawford, but I know there were a few others.
