Haven't seen this since it came out on VHS but I'd be up to revisiting it again. I miss seeing Bridget Fonda in films, she was such a great talent. So is Jennifer Jason Leigh. It's funny that their dads also played adversaries in Dirty Mary Crazy Larry.

Easily one of my favorite thrillers from the 90's. Fonda and Leigh are both terrific. Can't wait to see it in HD.

Leigh has been around if you know where to look. Especially more recently. I love her so much.

Fonda apparently stopped working once she married Danny Elfman, which I always forget.

Yeah, Leigh has always been around, mostly in smaller, independent movies, save for the occasional studio gig like Road to Perdition. She's had a kind of resurgence in the past few years, what with her Oscar-nominated turn in The Hateful Eight and more recently in Annihilation and Twin Peaks.

Jennifer Jason Leigh is great. I've always liked her. I recently watched the Kino blu-ray of Rush and she was fantastic in that. I would have liked to have seen her win the Oscar for Hateful Eight because she'd deserve it. She is far more talented than many higher profile actresses but doesn't get the recognition she deserves because so many of her films have been low-budget indie films that fly under the radar (the topic of this thread excepted of course).

She was really good in a movie years ago called Georgia... Where she played a damaged hippie rockstar wannabe who couldn't measure up to her older folk singing sister (played by Mere Winninham). Mere pretty much got all the award buzz for that movie instead of JJL and it didn't make sense.

this is what I hate about the 90s. generic crappy thrillers that are basically horror lite. pass.

although I love me some front 242. tyranny for you is a favorite album. and I remember what a pleasant surprise it was to hear them in the guest.

I love JJL but I can understand why her role in Georgia was overlooked as she had played slight variations on basically the same the damaged person in like a half dozen films within that 5 or so year period.

So a victim of her own success to some degree? I guess.. I still say she deserved more praise than Mare Winningham. I think it might one of those deals were JJL was very active in the 90's, and so of course some similarities in her performances could be seen... Mare on the other hand was rarely in anything of note and so people assume that she was giving a more original or fresh type of performance. I mean, that was probably the only relevant role she had in the 90's

JJL's most hated/damaged character was probably in Bastard Out of Carolina. As big of a fan as I was then, her character in that film almost made me hate her for awhile. lol

Leigh has been having a bit of a resurgence lately (The Hateful Eight, Annihilation, Twin Peaks: The Return, Patrick Melrose). Would like to see Fonda return at some point.

Doubt Fonda will return to acting, pretty much turned hipster & well living off hubby Danny Elfman, plus she was kinda treated like shit even before the whole MeToo movement.

Perhaps my favorite obsession-turns-murderous movie. Both leading ladies do a phenomenal acting job and the whole psychological aspect is well explored. On the one hand I like the cathartic climax which turns slashery, on the other it’s interesting to see how films about obsession have evolved, with films like Ingrid Goes West which is more self aware, ironic, and uses social media as the medium through which obsession is carried out. How times have changed. Either way, very excited to get this and I hope the transfer and extras are good. If anyone got the newer DVD, it came with a booklet with a nice essay which included comments from Luciano Tovoli, the same cinematographer who also worked on Suspiria (1979). Will definitely keep the DVD at least for that booklet.
