Default True movie fans see new movies on opening Thursday night. True or false?

Discuss.

True. A true fan braves the snow, rain and humidity to get to a midnight SW film.

True movie fans are interested in the process and behind-the-scenes aspects of the movies. Even if they don't watch it on Thursday

True movie fans don’t use Moviepass, they rent out a whole theater to control their own sound, projector lighting levels, clean the screen, they bring their own seat, no food, no moving, they sit still and absorb the whole movie. That’s what a true movie fan. Anything less and you are a dirty poseur!

We were the only two in the theatre for Eighth Grade yesterday at the first 5pm showing. True fans only.

False. Usually only big event movies open on Thursday nights. Those for the masses.

Not true. I see A24 movies on Thursday pre-screenings with some frequency.

nope true/smart movie fans wait till the Tuesday after it comes out and take advantage of 6 dollar ticket Tuesday depending if your theater does that or not.

True movie fans only go to the red carpet premiers in Hollywood, by any and all means necessary.

Yup, hit the nail on the head. $12 bucks for one movie ticket is insane to me, $5-6 or nothing unless it is a big movie like Avengers/select Marvel films.

if the title was changed to "the first week" of release I would tend to agree...

but opening Thursday night?-- fan or not, people have lives, jobs, responsibilities that may very well stop that from happening. It doesn't mean you're not a "true" movie fan, (whatever that actually means...)

I must be a fake movie fan.

Here I thought that doing all this collecting, watching and discussing was a real thing.

I have a friend who brings his own chair everytime I invite him to a private screening.

And although he describes himself as a huge film buff, he pulls his freaking phone out EVERYTIME. I hate it so much. Especially when I showed him the Scream franchise and he'd have his phone out during the amazing suspense moments of Ghostface moving in the background and whatnot. It drives me insane.

I don't consider him a movie fan lol. I consider him a fan of wasting his own time.

anybody that plays with his/her phone throughout a movie is not a fan. They will miss important dialogue, building of suspense, shock effects, etc etc etc.

I've been to my share of first shows. Doesn't mean that I am not a true fan of something if I don't do it anymore.

-I went to The Dark Knight's midnight show and Logan's Thursday preview because I was extremely impatient. They actually had 8 screens filled for TDK; apparently I wasn't the only one. Logan only had about 150 people.
-I saw MiB3 at a midnight opening because I just happened to be getting out of work at 11:30 and figured why not. There were like four other people there.
-I didn't see The Force Awakens until the next day because I was too tired. Doesn't mean I am not a real Star Wars fan. It might have even been Saturday, I don't remember. Still pretty full.

I think the phrase "true movie fans" is dumb.
