South Korea Peninsula (2020) (Train to Busan sequel)

"With the Korean working title Bando – meaning peninsula – the film will share the original’s 'worldview' according to the director, who is in the process of writing the script with an aim to start shooting next year.

Yeon said he wouldn’t call the new film Train To Busan 2. 'It is an extension of Train To Busan, after the virus has spread throughout Korea, but the characters are not the same. It shares the same world view and is a zombie action film that deals with the aftermath on the peninsula of what happened in Train To Busan.'" SOURCE

I like the fact that this isn't going to be a direct sequel since the first one was a very self contained and well executed take on the genre. I'm definitely excited to see where Yeon Sang-ho goes with this and if he's latest project Psychokinesis teaches us anything it's that he isn't afraid to innovate within concepts that have been tried and exhausted.

Train to Busan was definitely one of the best zombie movies of recent years.
In terms of the zombie sub-genre, I’m usually in the slow, shuffling zombie camp as opposed to the running zombies, but Busan was thrilling!

Looking forward to a sequel already.

Great news.
Looking forward to see how they will spice it up so it’s not “more of the same”

Koreans putting out some good Zombie drama lately.

Kingdom was a nice change up, zombies in medieval times. It's on Netflix.

Awesome! My brother and I saw Train to Busan last year and we absolutely loved it. Very excited to see what they come up with for the sequel.

The first movie felt like a World War Z spinoff/ prequel, it was great.

Yeah, my brother and I love World War Z, so after we saw Train to Busan for the first time we were like "Okay, this is officially a World War Z sidequel as far as we're concerned." Haha!

Read the thread title, thought it was going to be a movie about Dale's superhero altar ego.

According to THR, this will be called Peninsular in English-language countries (or are they just translating the original title?).

Peninsular?

Bando means peninsula but what's with the extra 'r' in the article?

I liked the article and forecast of goodies in the pipeline.

I never see anyone talk about the animated prequel, Seoul Station, but it's super good.
