I've heard it said many times, about how people hate working.
However, I actually like working a lot. My current job is working in a warehouse. Time just seems to fly wherever I'm at work, no matter the job. There's a few things I've noticed. The most obvious is, you get money by working. You actually have the money to buy things you want (or need). Working expands your social circle, boosts your self-confidence and self-worth, and gives you goals in life. Pretty much the only part I dislike... is waking up early. When you have a job, it changes everything. Your whole schedule in life gets rearranged. It is a big responsibility. And like I said, it gives you money. Money to buy food, entertainment, vehicles, money for rent or housing, for stocks, or whatever else. I work 8 hours a workday at my current job, but I honestly wouldn't mind more hours. Does anyone else actually like working? |

i like paying for and buying things i need/want...so i have to work to be able to do those things.
but i wouldn't say i actually "like" working. and it's not that i have a horrible job or the people there are not nice...because they are; and the job is a pretty decent job. but i've never actually liked working. and as far as my social circle or self-confidence...both of those are where i like them and i don't need to expand either one. i'm not overly social, anymore. i used to be...hell i was never at home on the weekends when i was younger as i was always at the club(s) or bar(s). but now, i just like being at home doing my thing....which is whatever i want, pretty much. and self-confidence? i have plenty. |

Uh, no. Anyone who says otherwise is lying. You work to live, nothing else.

So you're calling me a liar. I have a HUGE problem with that. I just celebrated 30 years with the same organization. I enjoy going to work each day. If I didn't, I'd be finding another job. Just because you apparently don't like your job doesn't give you the right to say that everyone else is just like you.

It's funny. There's this thing called pride. The pride of knowing that you're paying your own way in this world. |

What an interesting thread. From my perspective, I don't mind work at all as I find that it keeps me active. Keep in mind that I have been active duty Navy for the last 21 years so my idea of work will vary wildly from others. I turn 40 in March & I will be retiring from the Navy next Spring after 22 years of service. Between my pension & disabilty, I don't HAVE to work again but I WANT to work to keep me moving & to give me spending money for the various stuff I want to do like travel & stuff.

Yes. I am grateful to have a job that has great benefits (20 days vacation & sick leave every year, paid holidays), health benefits and good pay. Nothing is better than sitting in front of dual monitors, working on the computer and having high-speed internet at my disposal.
![]() ![]() I am also grateful that my job is not physical-type of labor and having to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions, so I really can't complain. ![]() Lastly, it pays the bills and I do have bills to pay every single month. ![]() |

I work security. I am on 61.5 hours this week. I rarely sleep. But I don't do much on the job other than watch YouTube or cartoons. I am here to fill a clause in an insurance policy, nothing else. I'm too old for physical labor and my many injuries over the years have made precision and detail too difficult for me.

I don't mind working. I'm a telecommuter so I roll out of bed in the morning, log onto my computer, put my 8 hours in, log off and do whatever.
I also have a side business where I put 20-25 hours in every week. while it's not a lot, it does get old jumping from 1 job to the next most days. sadly, we've come to enjoy some comforts we wouldn't be able to afford if I didn't have my side business. oh well, we're talking about ripping down our single car garage and putting up a new 2 car garage this spring. if we pull the trigger, i'll be able to pay for it in full and not have to borrow any money thanks to my business. |

If you enjoy what you do, it doesn’t feel like work. If you hate your job, you’re in the wrong line of work.
