Default The Official Funai (UHD)Blu-ray/DVD Player Thread

Funai is currently using the Philips, Magnavox and Sanyo
brand names (in the USA).

Over the past about 15 years, I've purchased several Funai
DVD(Philips,Magnavox,Sanyo,SV2000), Blu-ray(Magnavox)
and UHD Blu-ray(Magnavox) players, nearly all of them have
been reliable (no picture freezing etc.) although most of the
DVD players won't pass thru DTS audio.

The only problem is with the Sanyo DVD player, on home
recorded DVDs in >2 hour modes, the picture isn't smooth,
it seems like the Sanyo player isn't assembling the MPEG
information in the proper sequence.

Walmart stocks Samsung, Sony and Sanyo players and
with Samsung leaving the market...

What are your experiences with Funai players?

I have had a Funai Blu-Ray player since around Christmas 2014. It was the first I ever got. It worked well for about 3 years before I started to notice any significant problems. Nowadays it will only play DVDs. It even does that reluctantly and I don't know for how much longer. Sometimes they work on the first try, sometimes you have to open and close the tray 20+ times. The remote was crummy too. Within a year many of the buttons quit working. But luckily I still had a remote from my old Magnavox DVD/VCR combo that would work for it.
