Zero, Gully Boy, Simmba, all skipping Blu-ray?

Suddenly there's no sign of any of them on Blu, while all of them have released on DVD. Were the Blu-ray editions of all of these cancelled?

don't know Gully Boy but Simmba is releasing on Bluray this week, i've ordered my mine from ebay...and Zero is releasing either this week or next week.

I dont think there is sufficient market for Indian blu rays anymore. They are only online and not in retail stores at all anymore. Streaming has taken over everyone's preferred choice royally and Blu ray has become a niche sort of thing now. At least i dont know a single person using physical discs anymore for anything at all.

Btw Zero is out on Netflix.

Thanks for your replies, and, in fact to my great delight I got a reply from the eBay Simmba seller that said it's confirmed to be coming! So happy! Bummed about Gully Boy, but I'll definitely double dip on Zero. I got it on iTunes.

But yeah this development is understandable, but I don't have very many opportunities to see Bollywood movies outside of physical media, so my ability to even enjoy these films is diminished every day because of all the exclusive streaming deals in India.

I feel like there are enough enthusiast interest to keep it parenthetically alive in the States and such, but the one-two punch in India seems to be rampant piracy + lack of market penetration for Blu. DVD seems sorta readily available.

Photos of the blu ray case up on the seller's eBay page and I'm finally 100% relieved.

No sign of Gully Boy though sadly, although it's readily available on Prime Video so I can at least watch that.

The problem is with Sony DADC, they have shut down business in India. They were the prime disc manufacturers for LP, CD, DVD and BD. Companies are now sourcing other manufacturers.

DVD's and CD's are now being manufactured by T-Series. I see on these Bd's that the manufacturer is U-Tech (Taiwan).

Hope this slump doesnt deter other companies to get their soundtracks / movies released on physical media.

I've just watched the blu-ray of Zero.

Apparently it's not the theatrical version but rather a new edit of the film. (also available on netflix.)

It contains a new opening scene, some senes are added, others are cut.

I must say the new edit is better than the way I remember the film from my theatrical viewing.

I am just happy seeing movies get a physical format release. I wouldn't buy the Akshay Kumar starrers, but i am sure there is a market for his movies.

Kudos to these companies.

As much as I hated Akshay Kumar and his movies of yore (he was comparable to Govinda of the 80s and the 90s in my mind!), I've begun to sit up and notice his more meaningful cinema (Padman, Toilet, Jolly LLB 2, Rustom, Airlift [in this one, he seemed to get into the skin of the protoganist], Baby, Holiday) of recent times.
