I knew the Rick Grimes trilogy were pitched as "big budgeted epics" that I assumed would be airing on AMC (meaning they'd really be more like an extended TWD episode).

But upon hearing they're exclusively coming to theaters AND distributed (possible funded) by Universal, I am beyond hyped now.

It would have to take something truly special to get me to watch this. I’m pretty burned out on TWD. Stopped watching not too long after Negan came along.

Also, with this being released in theaters, I really hope that they give it an R rating rather than PG13. If it's PG13, then I see that as a loss, than a gain. Having it be rated R allows them to show a more grotesque, mature (sex and nudity), and F-bomb laced Walking Dead Universe full of what couldn't be done/show on television.

Doubtful. PG-13. No way they alienate their fan base.

Where have you been bro? Rick Grimes left the series in Season 9 and these movies will follow his journey where he went. So no, it won't be adapting any of the comics (that's saved for the show).

Then what is the entire point of releasing this in theaters if it'll be a "PG13 watered down" version than what's shown on television? Which by the way, is completely R rated material.

And it's not alienating their fanbase if the shows largest demographic is in the 18-49 range.

It would alienate their fan base if they did PG-13.

I noped out when the dudes in armor showed up with the guy trying to sound like King Arthur. Then you got the garbage people who somehow forgot how to talk. Lmao

I always liked Rick though.

I’m kinda intrigued now it’s a fully fledged flick, but I lost interest in the show ages ago, and I may be wrong, but I feel like interested in the show is declining as well. A part of me feels like the time for this has now passed.

Sad, but true. Season 3-5 was the shows prime hit peak. Pulling in 15 million viewers a week. Now, it's a mere 4 million.

Should have continued watching.

It was later revealed the "dudes in armor" and the guy "talking like King Arthur" was all an act (which they don't talk like that anymore.

And the garbage people were also an act. As Jadis (who's real name is Anne) speaks proper English and complete sentences.

They should keep the budget low like a horror movie.

Hard to say what the movies would make, though. I'm sure they're also not going to have an enormous budget like the marvel movies. It should still be significantly larger than what TWD tv show has.

An average episode of TWD costs between $8.5-10 million. That’s $136-160 million spent on a season.

If they’re to spend that amount on a feature length film, I’d be content with that.

WTF?

Talk about jumping the shark.

That's Rick Grimes 2000 on the covers there. Note the lightsaber and cybernetic hand, a la Anakin and Luke Skywalker.

I guess you’re not too versed in The Walking Dead universe.

Otherwise you would know this is a continuation of Robert Kirkman’s “alternative ending” seen in TWD Issue #50

Nope. And I really don't care. Just thought I'd share. But when it comes down to it, it does look a lot more fun than the TV shows which jumped the shark a long time ago. I am enjoying Invincible, though.

TWD has been milked big time recently. Never ending spinoffs, movies that are going nowhere fast, comics re-released in color, now whatever the hell that's supposed to be.
