Woman in a Box: Virgin Sacrifice (Masaru Konuma, 1985)

Hako no naka no onna: Shojo ikenie

Super sleazy effort, written by the notorious Kazuo 'Gaira' Komizu, who also brought us Entrails of a Virgin and Entrails of a Beautiful Woman. What little plot there is concerns a young woman who is kidnapped by a sadistic couple and subjected to all manor of sexual torture. And that's pretty much it, 82 minutes of depravity.

Apparently Konuma directed this one, so he could get his original script made, which would become Woman in a Box 2.

This was released straight to video, and the 1:33:1 dvd looks good for what it is. Aside from the optical fogging, which you see a lot of. Actually, I've seen quite a few of these films and this has more optical fogging than any other I've seen. At times, half of the screen is taken up by orange and yellow blobs. I tried to figure out a pattern for the different colors, but couldn't. Or it could be my tv making the different colors, or the weed and booze, who knows.

No extras on this one at all. It's a shame Impulse has stopped including an insert with the original art and Jasper Sharp essays, I enjoyed those, oh well, it's nice to have good subtitled copy of this one finally.
