United Kingdom Apocalypse Now 4k (UK)

I see this is coming out in a couple of weeks.

Amazon are listing two versions, one at £20 and one at £30 as a 'collector's edition' but I can't tell from the product description what the differences are. Both appear to have 3 different cuts of the film (Theatrical, redux, final cut).

Does anyone here know the difference? I dislike tat and wider boxes, *but* would plump for the more expensive one if their description is wrong and you only get the three versions with the collector's edition.

Thanks.

It's an odd one, the listings say the standard edition has all three cuts but hmv says it's 3 discs. Unless they've re-done the UHD to branch all three versions on one disc, I don't see how that can be as it contains the extras disc and a blu ray. So still confused. I've ordered the limited one which is on the way, but if the standard has the theatrical cut and is in a proper case (not crappy cardboard) I'll be annoyed as that's all I want.

I suspect the three disc version will purely be dedicated to The Final Cut on UHD/BD, with Hearts of Darkness on the third disc.

The one out tomorrow is the collectors edition with all three cuts. It’s expected the one out on the 30th contains just the new cut.

So... I was in my local Sainsbury's earlier this evening, and they have it on the shelf. It's labelled as the Final cut and is a 4-disc set.

Disc 1 is final cut
Disc 2 is redux and Theatrical
Disc 3 is extras
Disc 4 is Hearts of Darkness documentary.

And it looks to be in a nice, normal case without loads of tat.

Winner!

So it's basically the 6-discs version minus the 2 BDs with the 3 cuts ?

If it's anything like my local Sainsbury's this is the blu ray set only, not smaller 4k set which comes out on 30 September.

I'm really confused about this. I went on Amazona to buy this bit I can only find a version for £49.99 (!)

I thought there were only 2 versions, at 19 99 and 29.99?

It's pretty obvious what's happening. Collector's Edition is sold out and being sold for big profits by third-party sellers. Regular edition is widely available.

The movie BDs and UHDs are the exact same discs, disc art aside.

thanks Geoff. DVDbeaver reported different video bitrate between FC UHD Disc and TC/RC UHD disc, about 50mbps the first vs 40mbps the latter. are there significant differences in terms of video quality between the two discs (e.g. macroblocking or whatever)?

No, the two UHD encodes are equally delicious.

Has anyone actually bought/seen in person the new 3-disc edition that came out today? Would really like to know what discs are included before ordering it.

I looked at it in HMV today. UHD disc says it's Final Cut, then a BD of the film and a third disc with Hearts of Darkness + extras. So glad I got the 6 disc edition, I would have hated not to have the theatrical on UHD.

So just to have this clarified, do these UK editions exist? :

A) Collector's edition. 6-discs containing:
1. 4K Final Cut
2. 4K Theatrical + Redux
3. Blu-ray Final Cut
4. Blu-ray Theatrical + Redux
5. Blu-ray Extras / Special Features
6. Blu-ray Heart of darkness

B) 3 disc edition, containing 1, 5, 6 from A).

C) 4 disc edition, containing 1, 2, 5, 6 from A).

Is this correct? Or does the C) edition not exist?
