Now here's a movie I didn't expect to get the Blu-Ray treatment:
https://www.dddhouse.com/v3/product_...7&LanguageID=0 Description : 1080 Full HD Widescreen PCM 2.0 Language : Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese(Part) Subtitle : Traditional / Simplified Chinese, English Synopsis : In the spring of 1945, Japan established a secret base, Unit 731 in Manchuria, where many innocent Chinese, Korean and Mongolian people were killed in grotesque experiments. An idealistic young doctor, Morishima, is horrified by the experiments being performed in the camp and when his fiancée arrives disguised as a Chinese prisoner he sets out to liberate the camp. A docudrama sequel to the notorious Men Behind the Sun, which pulls no punches when it comes to delivering the shocks ! |

Got to take a look at this today.
It's the uncut version, but the formerly censored bits (the autopsy scene and all the nasty stuff) are SD inserts - so a lot of them. Last edited by Flack999; 09-23-2019 at 01:57 PM. |

Wake me up when Fun Tei Mou's original Hei tai yang 731 (a.k.a. Men Behind the Sun) (1988) is getting its Blu-ray premier in uncut with English subtitles.
Read from the TRIVIA just some of the difficulties that the director had to face with the production, and then look at the budjet for christ sake!!! |

Some of the gore footage that is in SD on MBHTS 2: Laboratory of the Devil is in HD on the concurrently released disc of MBHTS 3: Narrow Escape. Kind of curious it wasn't used in Laboratory, maybe the reused shots were edited down and would require mid shot SD inserts?

Dvdcompare.net lists the HK BD from Panorama with a running time of 94:52 minutes, stating it is missing some shots.
The newer US BD from Massacre Video is listed runinng 94:40 minutes (12 seconds shorter than the HK version, but it is marked as uncut. http://dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=51774 Both discs apparently use the same source: a scan from the original negative which was cut down for the HK theatrical version and filled up again for the BD with SD material. Can anyone confirm that the Massacre Video disc is indeed uncut although running shorter than the HK disc? |
