Default A Christmas Carol Adaptation (Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds)

Quote:

Christmas is coming a little early. Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds are developing a musical reimagining of Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol.

Sean Anders and John Morris of the Daddy's Home films are writing and directing, and Ferrell and Reynolds will star, though details of who they will play are being kept in Scrooge's bank vault.
The package is currently being shopped around town and has no studio attached as yet.

Charles Dickens' 1843 novella — about the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge being visited by ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future — has been adapted numerous times, with a number of productions taking creative license with the property, such as Bill Murray's 1988 comedy Scrooged and 1992's The Muppet Christmas Carol.

Ferrell's Gloria Sanchez, Reynolds' Maximum Effort and Mosaic are producing the musical take on A Christmas Carol, along with Anders and Morris.

A Christmas Carol is one of my all-time favorite stories, and I love seeing the various adaptations of it. This is one version I will happily skip. I have no problem with Reynolds but absolutely cannot stand Ferrell. He's comedy poison.

The last big studio version did $325m in 2009, so they probably are. Especially since we live in a world where the widely reviled Holmes and Watson made six times as much as the acclaimed Stan and Ollie in the US.

What's Will Ferrell's obsession with defecating on Victorian literature?

Will Ferrell sucks. Why would anyone give this clown work? Either way, this has zero appeal. Huge pass. Best of luck with it.....

I don't recall seeing a trailer for Stan and Ollie. I go to the theatre at least twice a week...it pays to advertise. For the little attention it got, I assumed it was a documentary and ignored it.

Ryan Renyolds can make anything good. Even the 300+ version of a Christmas Carol.

Ryan's a national treasure.

I think it's hilarious that Blake un-followed him on Instagram, though. Those two are really funny together.

Probably another movie where Ryan Reynolds plays himself.

I have to admit, a Deadpool style version of A Christmas Carol could be funny.

Will Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds' 'A Christmas Carol' Musical Lands at Apple

Quote:
Apple has splurged on an early Christmas present for itself, beating out Netflix, Warner Bros. and Paramount for the rights to A Christmas Carol, a new live-action musical based on the Charles Dickens classic that will star Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell, and be written and directed by Daddy’s Home filmmakers Sean Anders and John Morris.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news of the deal, but Variety provided the eye-popping financial details. According to the trade, Reynolds will take home $35 million, while Ferrell is looking at a payday north of $30 million, since runner-up Netflix was reportedly willing to pay them $27 million and $25 million, respectively. Neither actor’s feature quote is actually that high, but streaming services have to pay to buy out A-list stars’ backend compensation, since they won’t receive the same box office bonuses they otherwise would from a successful theatrical release. Keep in mind that in all scenarios, those figures included Reynolds and Ferrell’s producing fees, so they make a bit more sense in that context

The studios were fighting for the rights? I thought Ferrell is a comedy poison.
