Default Anyone getting an new TV this Black Friday?

I plan on getting the 55" LG C9 OLED or the 65" if it gets priced well enough.

It will be a minor upgrade over my B7A, but I want features like HDMI 2.1, which will be amazing for next gen consoles, although it does almost nothing for 4K bluray viewing.
Not to mention that Robert Zohn himself informed me that the C series uses higher grade panels than the B series, so that is a bonus.

Right now I haven't seen this panel mentioned in any Black Friday ads, but I am hoping the 55" model gets dropped to the $1200-$1300 price at a place like Costco. If the 65" model gets dropped to less than $2000, I may strongly consider that. I'd also consider purchasing from Mr. Zohn's store itself!

Now that I have got my plans out of the way, what are YOUR plans for black friday? TVs or otherwise.

Other than a couple of real deals which will require waiting on line for hours, Black Friday really isn't a good time to buy a new TV. Nor are the Super Bowl TV deals.

The best time to get the lowest price on a TV is in the Spring when manufacturers clear out the previous year's inventory to make room for brand new models.

That's always the case, but I want one now and I can always wait around for a better deal

I disagree. I bought the 43" Sony TV in my signature for $550 during clearance back in the Spring. I thought I got a pretty good deal at the time since the TV was selling for around $700. But I'm pretty sure there were great amount of 43" TVs for a fraction of that price during Black Friday.

The 65' C9 is currently $2146.99 on amazon atm. Price is close enough to your target. Personally gunning for a 65' Q90R. Also at a very reasonable price atm on amazon.

Sometimes you have to go with your gut feeling. I know the OLED tech produces a much better image and great viewing angles. But after looking at both OLED and QLED in different conditions, I am drawn to the Q90 more than any OLED. Must be how bright the display gets because the picture quality on both is great.

Nothing beats OLED. The C9 is the single best TV of all time.

I haven't seen it myself, but Sony is known for having superior image processing and motion handling to LG, but I have heard that the alpha-9 is no slouch.

My only issue with my B7A was the awful stutter I noticed in 24 fps/film content.

Panning shots were brutal.

Glad to hear that the chroma overshoot in near-black content has been sorted for the C9 (and some 2018 LG models in firmware) though, the Sony AG9 still seems to have a little bit of an issue with it if Vincent Teoh's various videos on the subject are to be believed.

Competition is a good thing for the market. It makes each competing company do their best to deliver the very best performance when compared to each-other. It also makes the market prices competitive.

The advancement in OLED TVs are a perfect example of this. Quality is up and the prices are at a big all time low! In response to Sony's aggressive A9G and A8G early Black Friday/Cyber Monday promotional offers, here's LG's latest C9 price moves that were just announced today:

- 77" C9 $4,997

- 65" C9 $2,097

- 55" C9 $1,497

These prices are before any store credits and include delivery Nationwide. Many folks are opting for our optional Q/C, break-in and calibration package and applying the store credit to towards the q/c-calibration package.

Jeez Louise, that price for the 77" is staggering, that's less than four grand when converted to £ sterling and if my ZD9 went pop right this second then that would have to be seriously considered despite my deep-rooted scepticism of OLED. Alas, it's not less than four grand for actual UK retailers as it's still at seven grand or thereabouts, almost nine thousand dollars!

I do hope they go lower. I don't recall any of the other OLEDs getting great sales on BF last year.

I am hoping that the 55" C9 goes down to at least $1297 as a doorbuster.

I'd consider the 65" at 1797, but I seriously doubt it will go that low.

Lowest so far for the 55' C9 is $1449.99 from Costco on BF

That's the price they are showing right now, but they could have doorbusters.

Just simply incredible. Geoff, what are you waiting for? These are better TVs than the artificially over sharpened Sony OLEDs.

Thanks Robert. Too bad the low price of the 77" set wasn't around in 2016 when I got my 3D, E6. I've always wanted a larger OLED for 3D but the prices were too high back then. Makes you shake your head.
