I'm thinking about getting a 2 meters optical cable to connect my Samsung 4K HDR set that has TosLink output to my Pioneer SC LX-76 A/V receiver, I don't like to have HDMI-CEC on and have to switch it on and off everytime I want to play something from Amazon Video and other platforms.
My question is, both Amazon Video and most Spanish networks broadcast on Dolby Digital Plus. Is Dolby Digital Plus transmited over TosLink or only downconverted plain Dolby Digital? Thanks in advance for your replies. |

I down know why but my 2017 Samsung 4K HDR set doesn't output Dolby Digital Plus via HDMI ARC. My set has three HDMI ports, only HDMI 1 if 2.0, the remaining two are HDMI 1.4 including HDMI 3 that's the ARC one, this one should output Dolby Digital Plus doesn't it? Well,it doesn't. Most OTA digital channels in Spain broadcast on Dolby Digital Plus, even the AtresMedia, the biggest private broadcaster in Spain, does it at Dolby Digital Plus at 48 Khz/24 bit,not bad. |
