Default Werewolf TV series coming to DVD? Maybe?

So it's all but confirmed to be coming out. The question is, Will it be coming to the US and other places? Regardless! This is great news! Finely this series can get out of torrent Hell. https://www.facebook.com/ElephantFil...35880943109738
I hope that link works right. This is my first time posting on the forum.

Apparently music rights are different in Europe, which might be why it’s getting a release over there. However, digital editing technology has evolved a bit since 2009, which can more easily allow music to be removed from audio, even when the separate stems are lost (as was apparently the case with Werewolf). That’s apparently how WKRP finally got a complete release on DVD.

If they pull it off, definitely a must have for me.

If it's an English friendly release, I am in for it.

Fingers crossed, a firm favourite of mine. Let’s hope it’s got English audio and no forced subs.

It has been confirmed by the French distributor:
Release date : October 26th 2020
Audio : French and English
Subs : French or none

To be confirmed but on the website Rakuten it says that the DVDs are all zone.

On amazon.Fr : La malédiction du Loup-Garou (Werewof)

Same here. If it was on blu-ray, I'd consider getting it. I liked the series as a kid, but I haven't seen it since it first aired.

Man...I loved watching this as a kid. Don't know how well it would stand up today. I don't buy dvd's anymore, but may have to pick one of these up if I can get it cheaply. Would love to revisit it again after so many decades!!

Even if this is region free, one would assume they are probably PAL? If so, a lot of US buyers may have problems.

It's better than nothing. Major TV series have not yet been released on blu-ray so it's already a miracle it gets a DVD one.

The French distributor had a blu-ray release planned but canceled it due to lack of proper HD material.

Wow, I remember this was a launch series for the Fox network. Dare we hope for The New Adventures of Beans Baxter?

We all like blu ray, but saying you won’t buy something just as it’s a dvd is a bit short sighted.

If it’s a choice of a good dvd or the bootleg copies I’ve had, I know which I’d pick.

I'd rather have it in PAL than not at all but after the wait it is kind of frustrating.

Anyone else pick this up?

What a piss poor release. Clearly taken from a vhs source, complete with tape scratches and even a old ‘cc’ (closed captions) icon appears on one episode title!

Very bad motion judder too. Such a shame we waited so long for a release and we were rewarded with something as bad as this. Avoid!

I avoided it after reading some bad customer reviews on a few retail sites about poor and jumpy picture. I had the impression they had gotten the French broadcast versions, and I would think those didn't have judder.

How is the transfer on Elephant Films' DVD releases of Mrs. Columbo, Madigan and The Sixth Sense? And are the episodes uncut?

Was hoping, that following the Australian Blu-ray release of Ghost Story/Circle of Fear, that they would do a release of The Sixth Sense.

I have Elephant Films DVD release of Gemini Man, it looks great. I also own their blu ray releases of Baa Baa Black Sheep and Blue Thunder the series and they look great. I don't own Werewolf, but I've seen the episodes and they aren't good. They look to be from tape masters, and honestly my recordings from the original broadcasts off of FOX years ago look just as good. It's tough to say which look better on my 50 inch screen.

I was hoping for something a lot better than what they released.

I'm not an expert, but Sixth Sense seems to be complete, except for minor edits for two episodes. Those had opening credits and the episode name that followed edited for french viewers. This meant cutting up the video to remove the english text shots and add french over nearby video. It's not too significant, and not a deal breaker considering there is no alternative retail version (except at one time there were streaming episodes on Amazon listed under "Night Gallery").
The PAL audio pitch change is abit annoying, but to be expected. I think two episodes have original audio pitch despite pal video. The picture has aliasing (jaggies) which is odd for progressive video, but generally still good.

So has anyone got any new info on this set? I've heard the quality was pretty bad. might as well stick to our bootlegs boys because it doesn't look like this wolf is ever gonna howl under the moon again. haha
