Would like a Steelbook for this but that front artwork is not very good. And the spine is awful. Shame.

I'm not sure what the art is on the front?

Which side is the front on a Japanese a Steelbook? Are they flipped round like a Manga comic?

I think the whole artwork on this steelbook is amazing and would probably go as far as to say it could be one of my favourite looking steelbooks.

Indeed, I think simple striking artwork is generally most effective on steel books and this is one of the best I'v seen.

I'm a bit unsure about this collection so far! I try to only buy 4k Steelbooks now, but I ordered Duel as it's been on my wanted list for ages and I don't think we'll get a 4k steel. I already own 2 Jaws steelbooks, I considered buying The Thing, but decided to wait for 4k. I think the Hindenburg artwork is great, but I don't have any interest in the film.

Interesting choice, it does look good.

Not sure on the film though.

Also, why is the Jaws one £25 and the others in the series are £15??

One of my favorite films. I love this and hate this at the same time.

Oh, but they only ship to the UK. I guess they decided for me.

Edit: Just saw the group buy. Hmmm, what to do...

The Jaws one is good because it's a iconic image and poster, this one though I am not so sure and a no buy for me, I think this series will only work on certain films/posters like Blade Runner, Blade Runner 2049, Kill Bill, Ready Player One and Starship Troopers spring to mind for example.

Hands down the worst looking steelbook I've ever seen. What an abomination. Duel deserved better. Why is the back cover not the front cover?

Good grief that is awful! Obviously a marmite decision, presumably dependent largely on whether you're a manga fan or Japanese pop culture enthusiast (of which I am neither).

I'll happily wait for either a plastic case or a steelbook with Western artwork.

This release still doesn't have the original mono though right? If it only has the 5.1 mix with the missing elements then it's an easy pass.

I could never find an answer to this. I was wondering if the 5.1 mix restored the original horn sound effect at the end or if it was still the revisionist version form the DVD 5.1 mix.

I found this out too late as I already ordered a UK copy, but
the American release (region free) contains the new 5.1 and the original mono tracks.

Looking at reviews of that release and comparisons to the TV version (plus fan-made recreations/re-edits of both), no-one mentions a different or absent truck horn sound, though one Amazon reviewer does mention a different train horn sound.

I did find this on dvdcompare.net, referring to a different sound effect:
[Show spoiler]NOTE (INCLUDES A SPOILER!):
Original Mono track on R1 differs slightly from the remixed 5.1 DD/DTS tracks for the ending scene. When the truck goes over the cliff, the "dinosaur roar" heard in the Mono track is missing in the 5.1 tracks, and the whole sequence overall is audio wise slightly different.
