Default Dexter's Laboratory reprint?

Madman Entertainment in Australia made a fantastic, complete release of the series, but unfortunately it's out of stock and so it's hard to buy it. All I've seen on eBay Australia is Season 1 and that's it.

What makes the release even better is that it's in NTSC than PAL.

Please make a budget reprint, Madman.

My Pops has had that set for 3 years and it was NTSC back then.

Unfortunately what I've heard from them is that they have no plans whatsoever. I think they sold what they wanted to and they're done with it unfortunately.

I guess I’m slow. If it’s NTSC but still Region 4, would they play in US players?

I want to jump and buy the set as Dexters is Top 10 all time cartoon for me but not if it won’t play.

You'll possibly need a region free player, but it will play at the correct original NTSC speed.

That being said, it's entirely possible that the discs are region free and could play - no one seems to have verified it as far as I know.

My copy will get here Monday. I can throw a disc into my computer drive and see if it will play since that drive is locked to Region 1/ A.

You can rip it (DVDFab or DVD Decrypter) to your HDD and then play it anywhere. Especially on Android devices, it can play BD/DVD ISOs.

Btw, thanks to the dude who left a link to order from Amazon.

I've confirmed with Madman and the seller that this is not a reprint, these are the last 81 copies and were found in a warehouse. Price and stock likely will not last - jump on it while you can.
OMG! Thanks for putting that link up... it threw me a bit at first since the listing says 1 disc in the product details, but then saw the run time and checked the pic of the reverse side with the synopsis and info.

Now my Powerpuff Girls 10th anniversary set will finally have its Cartoon Network partner in crime!

You would have to have a region free player to play it.

I ordered this Friday when I found it saying In Stock Soon... and said it would ship by Oct. 6th. Now it says if you order now you get it shipped immediately (within 12hrs), mine seems stuck in limbo. I'll be so disappointed if I somehow get ****ed over on this. Tried to cancel and reorder and it wouldn't let me so hopefully it'll ship soon as it would if I were to order it now.

Given the lack of interest from other distributors in other countries, seems a HD Remaster release on Blu-ray is unlikely. Besides, this is in NTSC so that in itself makes it well worth it.

I would buy this set if I knew for sure I could play it. Sadly I don’t have a region free player. I doubt it would play in my 4K player

Because that is the playback speed at which it was broadcast. If it were PAL, it would have "PAL speed-up," something that you don't really hear about anymore because the HD era effectively eliminated NTSC/PAL broadcast differences.

Many productions for broadcast in North America were produced in 29.97PsF or 59.94i, causing PAL conversions ending up very sloppy. By comparison feature films are much easier to convert to PAL territories for 25PsF playback although pitch correction is critical. 3:2 pulldown on the other hand can be very annoying.

If we're being honest, NTSC and PAL wasn't a thing on DVD to begin with. The format encodes YUV in 704x480/59.94i and 704x576/50i* with different pixel ratios. These formats match with the broadcast timings used in North America, Europe, Australia etc respectively but the video stream is not PAL or NTSC like on VHS or Laserdisc.

* Decoded MPEG-2 from DVD is always interlaced, and DVD always has 704 active horizontal pixels. Also BT.601 doesn't have a specific color gamut, meaning the hardware must identify based on the timings if EBU or SMPTE-C should be the used references.

Has anyone had an order progress to shipped status?

When I asked Amazon why my order from Thrusday seemed stuck (not shipped, delivery by Oct. 6th, unable to cancel) if I could order today and have it delivered Monday they told me to order it again and return one. Neither order has moved to shipped but it still says I'll get today's order by tomorrow 9pm.
