USA Guncrazy (1992) (MVD Rewind Collection) - December 15, 2020

Guncrazy (1992) Collector's Edition coming from MVD Rewind on December 15th.

Quote:
Since Anita Minteer (Drew Barrymore, 50 First Dates) was nine, every man she ever met has wanted only one thing. But when she becomes pen-pals with imprisoned convict Howard Hickock (James LeGros, Drugstore Cowboy), she gains self-confidence and sees a possible escape from the torment of her everyday life.

Howard's infatuation with guns drives Anita to them as well. But with this new found strength in her hands, she murders her sexually abusive guardian. Now with Howard out on parole and the police on their back, there can be no turning back. In the style of BONNIE & CLYDE, GUNCRAZY tells the story of two young lovers on the run from the law.

GUNCRAZY marks the directorial debut of Tamra Davis (Crossroads, Billy Madison) with a Golden Globe® nominated performance by Drew Barrymore and an all-star supporting cast that includes Jeremy Davies (Saving Private Ryan), Rodney Harvey (My Own Private Idaho), Michael Ironside (Top Gun), Ione Skye (Say Anything...) and Billy Drago (The Untouchables).

I adore films with the Bonnie & Clyde dynamic (including the original Gun Crazy), so this will be day one for me.

I didn’t break my word, and I just got in my copy. This is my first MVD Rewind release, and it’s a nice package. It comes with a mini poster of the cover art, along with that of the Bloodfight and Ironheart double feature. The transfer looks pretty good to my eyes (although it’s likely an older master), and the extras are pretty comprehensive, especially the feature-length documentary. Sadly, no Drew Barrymore, but Tamra Davis and James Le Gros participate at least. It has a lower-budget feel then Red Shirt’s docs (it may have been done during COVID), but it’s still a very, very welcome addition. Overall, this is a very nice package that I’m sure fans will appreciate. I can’t be the only one buying this, right?

I remember seeing this back in the mid 90’s, right before Drew had her comeback with Scream and The Wedding Singer. I’ve been buying up most of her movies recently, so I’ll probably pick it up too.

I liked Ed Tomney's score. Especially in opening.
