Fantastic movie. No one shot Sarah better than Ridley. But two things... Darkness must look red, none of this revisionist nonsense. And it must be the theatrical cut with Tangerine Dream. Legend is irrelevant without Tangerine Dream.

So want this but I have to smile at the old argument because... it’s got to be the Jerry Goldsmith score. That’s the heart of Legend .

I guess it’s what you grow up with. I first saw LEGEND in the UK when it first came out. It was a big lush fairytale with an equally lush orchestral score. The Dress Waltz sequence blew me away at the time and that was particularly cause of the music as well....and the goblins cutting the horn off part! I like TD a lot and the score is okay but it was all a salvage job as the distributor got cold feet and thought recutting and putting a synth score on it would appeal to more kids and create some kind of new-age hybrid thing for the time. I would also hope that all 3 cuts are represented on any UHD disc. |

I can't think of another case of any movie in the history of cinema where "studio control" was the right decision. And it bothers me to say it, but that Tangerine score is Legend |

Goldsmith's score is literally shit? First off, look up the word literal, you're obviously using it wrong... and secondly only wiff of shit I smell is once again Noremac's two cents.
Tangerine Dream's score is great if you want Legend to be of the times(80's). Jerry Goldsmith's score makes Legend timeless and more fitting of the fairy tale aesthetic. The DC as a whole is a more complete vision that to me felt more magical. The theatrical cut is 80's pop art, but oddly rushed and edited. I do think a hybrid of both scores would be interesting. |

Ha, for me, the Tangerine Dream score is the heart of Legend. I also hate almost all the editing changes in the DC. So, yeah, both cuts are definitely needed.

I like both scores, but the Tangerine Dream score is the one I grew up with, so I have a very soft spot for it. Hell, I even like the Bryan Ferry song. That said, my preference is for the DC. I love the scene with Meg Mucklebones, and thought it sucked that it's shortened in the theatrical version.
