Similar to my worst UHD thread what has been your least favorite upgrade or minimal upgrade on the format. So far the only UHD I thought that looked almost like a BD was Baby Driver which despite HDR helping, didn't look that much better than the Blu-Ray. Overall I have found UHD's to be at least some sort of upgrade from the BD even if it's minimal.

Since the OP asked for "least favorite upgrade," I'll be subjective and say Quantum of Solace.
I've always really liked the movie and the Blu-ray is a knockout, but the DNR on the UHD is disappointing. It's even more disappointing when you see that the non-HDR 4K master on Amazon Prime looks quite good, so I guess something went awry when preparing the HDR master. Anyway, far from the worst disc on the market or that I've seen, but that one annoyed me the most. I would say The Phantom Menace, but I never really expected LFL to go out of their way for that one. And I'm still annoyed that Disney couldn't be bothered to give Avengers: Endgame a BD-100, but I don't wanna go down the rabbit hole of having people explain why Disney cutting corners there is OK. I'll admit that it's dumb ****ing luck that Endgame has such a crisp 'digital' look which lends itself to such a low bitrate (see also: BoRhap), as if it was shot on film then such a low bitrate would end in disaster (Apollo 13, ID4), but it still works regardless. |

T2: Judgment Day easily
Not only is the lack of film grain from DNR disappointing (the film is sharper than previous blu-rays but not anywhere as detailed as 4K has the potential for) but the HDR is practically non-existent to my eyes. Many older films from the 80s as far back as the 50s look incredible thanks to how well rendered film grain is and how HDR enhances the image. T2 isn’t one of them. I still own a copy of it because to be honest, I do prefer the color on this restoration compared to the old home video master. But if I watch this version, it’s the 3D version which can kind of excuse the shortcomings of the remaster. If I’m watching in 2D or the extended cut, I would go with the 2015 release or in my case, the Mondo steelbook from Canada. |

Goodfellas looks great in 4K but it really isn’t a huge difference over the remastered 2015 Blu-ray. Some may even say it looks worse because of how much darker it appears, but with the right calibration that can be corrected.
It’s not a flop like T2, but in terms of “upgrade” it just isn’t so noticeable compared to stuff like Starship Troopers or American Psycho or The Big Lebowski where they replaced severely outdated transfers. |

Aye, I've made my apologies for liking a few DNR disasters because of the HDR, but T2 doesn't even have that going for it.

Totally with you there. Some anime titles like Cobra and Ghost in the Shell have a fair amount of DNR applied but the HDR and WCG make up for it, and being animation, them looking a little smooth isn’t as jarring as the wax figure looking people in T2.

Sony's Cliffhanger is an uneven beast. About 20% of the movie suffers from DNR, but the other 80% looks great.
