Are their versions of Exterminators in the Year 3000 and Hands of Steel english friendly? I wonder if they’re getting region A re-releases. I know Exterminators could definitely use one.

I posted this in the livid media thread, but will repost here. I received Atlantis Interceptors from Pulse Store.
It's been touted as a new 4K master. The Original English-spoken version with French subs switched to French language after about 20 minutes. Very odd. The English-spoken version without French subs luckily did not have this issue. I had last seen this movie about 5 years ago and it was a pretty shabby version which I had found on the internet. So I was anxious to see what 'new 4K master' really meant. Bear in mind I'm no expert on the matter and that the screens below were taken with my mobile phone. Well, it's not a flawless winner all across the board. More of a mixed bag, but definitely more often pleasing than not and compared to what came before, some may even see this as a real winner. The opening titles did not bode well, the image is blurry and distinctly dvd-ish. Thing improved considerably afterwards when Mike and Wash begin their mission to abduct some old dude from a seashore mansion. Colors are nicely saturated (maybe a bit too at times) and they do have some really striking pop as evidenced on the clothing and the foliage of trees and plants. The buildings facade shows some pretty good detail in the brickwork. Nightime scenes are less impressive, but never dull or washed out. Black levels are good enough, fires a nice orange pop. Sure, there are some fuzzy moments interspersed throughout where the image is more DVD quality but I found those fairly rare. The grain is there although it is a bit more clumpy during certain scenes. I would say this is a sufficiently organic image though, not one which was scrubbed clean at all, but perhaps one could expect a bit more given this is a new 4K master. On the other hand, perhaps this is about as good as it can look? Maybe, maybe not. There are some dark blotches here and there but they don't stay for very long. Curious to see the Severin release later this year. Sound was clean and hiss-free if flirting a bit with minor harshness. The sound field was not really wide, sounded like a mono track, but again I don't have any real complaints. Base elements sounded pretty solid, dialogue mostly intelligible on my KEF's E305. The screenies below are some of the better shots in the movie. I would say the grain is a bit more present while watching the movie so pls. take the pictures with a bit of salt on the side. ![]() If I were to rate the video, I'd say a 7.5, which might be a tad overly positive because it's such a massive upgrade that it is easy to be swayed. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
