United Kingdom Iron Eagle (Aquila De Acero) 1986

Spanish Import:-

Iron Eagle 1986 directed by Sidney J. Furie. Starring Louis Gossett Jnr and Jason Gedrick on Blu-ray from Spain today.

From the cover-:

1.78:1 Aspect Ratio
Full 1080p
Region A,B,C.
ENGLISH and Castellano DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtracks.
Aleman and French 2.0 DD soundtracks.
29.1 Mbps.
English (Ingles) Castellano,Aleman and Frances subtitles.
Trailer.
Main Menu is on a loop and has scenes from the film and two songs from the soundtrack. It has four options. Play,Languages,Subtitles and The Trailer (in English)

The good news is this is miles better than the old U.K Columbia dvd. The picture and sound is much improved. It looks like an older transfer but comes across as very natural looking with low to medium levels of grain and no DNR. There are some minor density fluctuations and some ‘noise’ in the sky but overall it’s a clean print with no obvious signs of dirt etc. Colours are good and detail is also generally quite good but with a bit of softness here and there. I didn’t notice any compression issues.

In conclusion it’s worth buying as it’s a good upgrade over the dvd even if not modern looking but that’s good as it looks like a film and retains the 80’s feel of the movie.

To add to this, after some comparison between the Spanish bluray and the DVD it appears the DVD is also cropped slightly

I really hate purchasing bootlegs for the obvious “questionable ethics” reasons but, hot damn, this is my second Resen purchase after TRUE LIES and it’s even more impressive than that very (shockingly) solid release (the whites on IE are not as clipped as those on TL)! In particular, all the lovely grain that had mostly been DNRd away on the DVD is back and detail levels are several clear steps up. I have now begrudgingly (am I really gonna own three boots???) ordered Resen’s edition of DESPERATE MEASURES based off the unexpected level of quality found on TL and IE.
