Germany The Bride with White Hair 4K UHD (Koch)

Totally missed this until someone posted a picture in the haul thread yesterday. Officially released today and Koch shop exclusive: https://shop.kochfilms.de/de/das-unb...uhd-3-blu-rays

In case anyone else missed it as well. And of course I only just bought the Eureka BD last year, since I didn't expect a 4K of this. Meh.

Never heard of this before, but now I’m interested. And I see it has English subtitles. Hmm. Looks like no HDR, though?

Yeah, it looks like no HDR. And it's €50, plus another 20 for shipping, I bet. Man, the Germans and their expensive 4K UHD box sets that I want are killing me.

Don't know for sure, but yes, seems to be SDR. Maybe someone else, who knows more about it already, can chime in.

I pre-ordered it yesterday. As soon as I receive my box, I will let you know if the movie is in HDR or SDR

Ordered today - the FOMO is strong with me with 4Ks. Not so much with big boxes though. But the sooner more infos, the better.

Re. the movie: I have to say that I really didn't love it, and therefore won't recommend it to anyone, but, even if it might sound odd, I'd still watch it again and might watch it with somewhat different expectations next time.

Is Koch likely to do a standard UHD edition after this? I don’t think I need the fancy box set.

Suspiria (1977) 4K remained an exclusive with the Ultimate, Color Out Of Space did not and a mediabook was available pretty close IIRC.

I didn't think too much about it here, since it also comes with another movie (part 2), which is a welcome excuse to buy it again. I'm not following a German forum anymore, so others will most likely know more in regard to this one.

Interesting. I'm seeing one 4K disc and three Blus. It looks like they licensed most (all?) of the Spectrum (French) disc's contents. If they're doing a straight-ish port, I assume the set will break down as follows.

4K: Bride 1 (no SDR)
Blu 1: Bride 1
Blu 2: Bride 2
Blu 3: Extras, possibly including "The White-Haired Witch of Lunar Kingdom" (2011 remake included with the French set)

In any event, I assume another set will come out at some point. If this is a shop exclusive, that means nobody outside the EU will be able to order it. I have difficulty imagining this never showing up at Amazon or other storefronts.

Are any of those Spectrum sourced extras with English support? They're different to Eureka's. Only the Yu interview is spoken in English whereas the others are in Cantonese, Mandarin and French

Sadly it looks horrible, soft crap...if we get eureka BD vs UHD I bet the Koch will look even worse

The restoration itself is quite soft.

Not convinced at any rate and just cancelled. If I loved the movie, I might still want to take a look at it myself, but not in this case.

Meh. As I said. Cancelled.

No HDR? I'm perfectly fine with the Eureka release anyway.
