I know this was originally planned to be released theatrically (under the name Connected) and I assume it would have received a physical release, but its shift to a Netflix release has me worried that it might not get a physical disc anymore.
Does anyone know if Sony retained the physical distribution rights? I would really, really love to experience this film in 4K HDR with a lossless Atmos soundtrack. It was so good. My favourite of this year so far. |

It'll likely receive a Blu-ray release eventually. The deals Sony signed with Netflix for Fatherhood and Vivo were both licensing deals where they retain home video and television distribution rights, and this may have also been the same with The Mitchells vs. the Machines since they were both signed just a couple of months later. Additionally, not only do Vivo and Mitchells both happen to be Sony Pictures Animation productions, but Mike Rianda and Phil Lord have also hinted at such a release happening in the future on Twitter.
