If you had the means to make a movie, what existing movie or combination of movies would it most resemble?
For me, it would be a combination of these two. I'd make a noir cyberpunk Star Wars movie. 181637_large.jpg253474_large.jpg |

I've had an idea for a script in my head the past several years, for a film that would mostly be a sci-fi mystery on par with RoboCop and The Bourne Identity. My idea is about a wealthy man's son who is badly burned in an explosion, healed by an experimental cybernetics project, but then wakes up with no memory. I only have a couple of pages written, but if I ever finish it I think it could be an engaging story.

It'd probably look like a Bergman chamber drama or a down-to-earth Chloé Zhao character study.
If I had a big budget, however, I'd love to make stuff like Alien and Arrival. |

![]() ![]() ![]() Throw in the action in the style of a video game like F.E.A.R. and you're not too far off with what I would aim for on this threeway combo of an cybernetically enhanced agent who's perception of reality gets severely messed with. ![]() ![]() Connecting and exploring altered states of mind with a partner in a way that feels loose and dreamy. |

I've described my perpetually in process script about the formation of ILM as RKO 281 meets BARBARIANS AT THE GATE, crossed with GROWING UP BRADY. Having said that, the script, which I call A LONG TIME AGO IN A GALAXY WITHOUT CGI, is maybe the only thing I've ever written that I had almost zero interest in directing.
I'm much more interested in making a WHERE EAGLES DARE in space thing, close to FIREFLY but with much better science, and where everybody says 'shoot' when it comes to using the guns, and 'fire' for when something is on fire. In fact, I've had a file cabinet drawer full of variations on this CRITICAL ORBIT notion going back nearly 30 years, though the original version actually dates back to 1975 when I was in high school. I've got several movie versions and a precis of what the TV series continuation would be, spanning several years with these characters and ending with the most kickass wrapup this side of the last page of the original FLETCH novel (in my humble opinion of course.)
