Default Red Shoe Diaries (pilot cable movie and subsequent TV series)

I know a Blu-ray release of Red Shoe Diaries (the pilot cable movie and subsequent cable television series) wouldn't be a big seller, but I think there would be interest in it getting a Blu-ray release (but was it shot on film?).

It has had some physical media releases in the States. Showtime (the cable network which originally showed it in the States) released some cable movies of it (each one was comprised of three episodes edited together), about twenty in total (sixty-six episodes were made in total). Some of these cable movies were shown over here on one of Sky's movie channels back in the nineties. Showtime also did a physical media release of the pilot cable movie.

Much more recently, Kino Lorber re-released the pilot cable movie on DVD, along with a DVD release of the first produced season (thirteen episodes in total).

In an ideal world, depending on what original elements are available (and any rights issues), a boutique label does a Blu-ray boxset of the pilot cable movie and subsequent television series with new scans and restorations, with all previous extras ported over. Not forgetting the original United States airdates are included as well, because while I've read when Red Shoe Diaries started airing on Showtime, I don't know when the last season was filmed and when it originally aired in the States. Finally, when David Duchovny filmed the framing sequences would be helpful (I read in a reference book about the early seasons of The X-Files that Duchovny filmed The X-Files in the week, then at the weekends he would go back to Los Angeles to film the framing sequences (his character Jake Winters bookends every episode bar one (the episode "Jake's Story").

Last year, for a brief while, UK TV channel Channel Five started a repeat run of Red Shoe Diaries (showing double bills for a couple of nights a week), until the show was removed from the schedules. The first two seasons are still available on Sky's Catch-up service (although having checked the episode list for "Season 1", it didn't match the episodes in Kino Lorber's DVD release of "Season One").

A few weeks ago, UK TV channel 5Star started repeating the show from the beginning. Double bills in the early hours of Tuesday morning each week. It'll be interesting to see if they get to the third season.

If I get a reply to this question about the current physical media rights to Red Shoe Diaries in the States, I'm expecting a short response: I'm not 100% who Kino Lorber licensed the show from, but do they still have the license to release the show on physical media in the States?

United Kingdom Repeat run of Red Shoe Diaries on UK TV channel 5Action

Hopefully this time, more episodes will be shown, compared to when Channel Five starting repeating the series for two or three weeks last summer/early autumn (a double bill on each night the series was on), before it was removed from the TV schedules. One of Channel Five's channels, 5Action, is starting a repeat run of Red Shoe Diaries from the early hours of next Tuesday morning (4th April).

Following on from the above, quoted post, it's just the first two seasons of the show which UK TV channel 5Action are repeating/showing. No episodes on next week in the TV schedules.

I'm using the word 'rare' because if it has been shown on UK TV before it was a long time ago. I know that the majority of, or all of, Red Shoe Diaries's episodes were edited into a cable TV film (three episodes in each cable TV film) and released on VHS. Some of them were shown on UK movie TV channels (I remember them being on some of Sky's movie TV channels). The pilot cable TV film (which was released on UK VHS with the title Wild Orchid III: Red Shoe Diaries or Wild Orchid III: Red Shoes Diary) is getting a rare TV screening a week on Saturday (13th May) on UK TV channel 5Star at 1.50 am - 3.35 am (it's in the TV listings for a week tomorrow (Friday 12th May).
